Regular Verbs are those in which <strong>the</strong> secondary partsare formed from <strong>the</strong> primary, according to certain rules, 185.2. <strong>The</strong> Conjugation <strong>of</strong> a verb, is <strong>the</strong> regular combinationand arrangement <strong>of</strong> its several voices, moods, tenses, numbers,and persons.3. Of regular verbs, in <strong>Latin</strong>, <strong>the</strong>re are four conjugations,called <strong>the</strong> First, Second, Third, and Fourth. <strong>The</strong>se are distinguishedfrom each o<strong>the</strong>r, by <strong>the</strong> vowel before re, in <strong>the</strong>present infinitive active ;thus,<strong>The</strong> First Conjugation has a long before re <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> infinitive.<strong>The</strong> Second "has e long before re <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> infinitive.<strong>The</strong> Third "has e short before re <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> infinitive.<strong>The</strong> Fourth "has I long before re <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> infinitive.Fxc.
