The <strong>Learning</strong> <strong>Differences</strong> ProgramCOURSEWORKAt AHS students with learning differences participate fully inregular pre-college curriculum classes. The level at whichstudents participate is determined on an individual studentability / subject area basis.Components of the Program:• A <strong>Learning</strong> Profile is developed for each student whichincludes information regarding main difficulties, strengths,learning styles, appropriate accommodations and teachingsuggestions.ELIGIBILITY FOR SUPPORTSERVICES:• <strong>High</strong> <strong>School</strong> Placement Test must betaken at AHS• A copy of the student’s most recentpsychoeducational test reports,completed by a licensedclinicalpsychologistAccommodations that may beprovided include:• Extended testing time• Quiet testing area• Note takers• Use of calculators• Preferential seating• Guided notes• Recorded lectures• Ongoing communication between the <strong>Learning</strong> <strong>Differences</strong>Specialists and the classroom teachers to monitor studentprogress• Bi-monthly email communication with parents to inform themof grades, newsletters, information, etc.• Consistent academic support for students through theimplementation of a specific curriculum that focuses on studyskills, organization, time management, goal setting, etc.• Assistance provided to both students and parents forsuccessful transition• A diagnosis of a clearly stated disabilitythat is recognized as a disability in thestate of Kentucky or is recognized in thefield of special education as a learningdisability.• A signed release so that AHS cancommunicate with the elementary ormiddle school• An application for the AHS <strong>Learning</strong><strong>Differences</strong> program• A copy of the student’s 504 Plan/IEPfrom the elementary/middle schoolCompletion and submission of thisinformation does not guaranteeenrollment at <strong>Assumption</strong> <strong>High</strong> <strong>School</strong> orplacement in its <strong>Learning</strong> <strong>Differences</strong>Program. If admitted to AHS <strong>Learning</strong><strong>Differences</strong> Program, parents mustcomply with the parent requirementsoutlined in the program contract.
