SOIL SURVEY

Gleysolic and Organic soils occur in seepage and ponded areas, generally near th evalley bottoms . Regosolic soils occur on unstable steep slopes and in snow avalanch eareas .Map delineations separate soils on the basis of texture, stoniness, calcareousness,drainage and slope as well as classification . These map units are characterized i nthe legend and in the map unit descriptions which also include information on landfor mand vegetation .Detailed guidelines were established to assess the soil limitations of each ma punit for various park land uses . The findings of this study are summarized in table slisting the nature and degree of soil limitations associated with each map unit withi nthe Park . The tables provide a convenient format from which maps can be prepare ddepicting soil limitations for several specific uses .
