Queensland <strong>Responsible</strong> <strong>Gambling</strong> <strong>Code</strong> of <strong>Practice</strong>“recognition ofthe diversity inQueensland”“focus oncustomer protectionmeasures”Cultural and geographic diversityIn recognition of the diversity in Queensland, gambling providershave a responsibility to respond to the needs of their localcommunities. Where appropriate, consideration needs to begiven to ensuring people from culturally and linguistically diversebackgrounds have access to relevant protection measurescontained in this <strong>Code</strong> of <strong>Practice</strong>. In addition, it is recognisedthat people living in different geographic areas may haveparticular needs that gambling providers will take into account inimplementing the <strong>Code</strong> of <strong>Practice</strong>, where appropriate.<strong>Practice</strong>sThis <strong>Code</strong> of <strong>Practice</strong> commits the gambling industry to implementand adhere to responsible gambling practices, with a particularfocus on customer protection measures. These practices areorganised into the following broad categories:1. Provision of information;2. Interaction with customers and community;3. Exclusion provisions;4. Physical environment;5. Financial transactions; and6. Advertising and promotions.In recognition of the diversity within the gambling industry, the<strong>Code</strong> of <strong>Practice</strong> acknowledges that some practices apply to allsectors of the industry while others apply only to particular sectors.The Appendix contains details of how these practices apply toindustry sectors.The <strong>Code</strong> of <strong>Practice</strong> is a dynamic document. It is anticipated thatnew practices will be developed in response to innovative bestpractice within the industry. Research into issues related to problemgambling and responsible gambling will also informfurther development.6
