OutcomesThe Queensland <strong>Responsible</strong> <strong>Gambling</strong> <strong>Code</strong> of <strong>Practice</strong> aimsto achieve the following outcomes:• Individuals, communities, the gambling industry and theGovernment have a shared understanding of responsible gamblingpractices.• Individuals, communities, the gambling industry and theGovernment have an understanding of their rights andresponsibilities in relation to responsible gambling practices.• The gambling industry provides safe and supportive environmentsfor the delivery of gambling products and services.• Customers make informed decisions about their gamblingpractices.• Harm from gambling to individuals and the broader communityis minimised.• People adversely affected by gambling have access to timelyand appropriate assistance and information.Accountability and reviewAll gambling providers within Queensland will be responsible forensuring their commitment with the relevant practices containedin this <strong>Code</strong> of <strong>Practice</strong>. Each gambling provider will maintainappropriate records relating to the practices in the <strong>Code</strong> of <strong>Practice</strong>.“customersmake informeddecisions”“independentlymonitoredand evaluated”Queensland <strong>Responsible</strong> <strong>Gambling</strong> <strong>Code</strong> of <strong>Practice</strong>While commitment to the <strong>Code</strong> of <strong>Practice</strong> is voluntary, there arepractices that are also a legislative requirement. These practices mustbe complied with or action may be taken under the relevant Acts.The <strong>Code</strong> of <strong>Practice</strong> will be independently monitored and evaluatedregularly for its effectiveness. Following a review of voluntarycommitment to the <strong>Code</strong> of <strong>Practice</strong>, minimum standards maybe recommended and, where appropriate, codified into legislation.The Government will also retain the right to legislate in any area ofgambling at any time.5
