Velan Top-Entry, Resilient-Seated Ball ValvesAt AREVA, our Nuclear Parts Center (NPC) andVelan Valve teams work with customers to provideVelan Top-Entry, Resilient-Seated Ball Valves —conveniently delivered to your site, exactly when youneed them. These valves ensure reliable sealing, promote longer cycle life and relieve excess pressure. In fact, NPC is the exclusive distributor of VelanASME III Class 1 valves. We have decades ofexperience as the most responsive nuclear partssupplier in the U.S. That’s why we only offerproducts with the field-proven performanceand variety of applications you require. And ourrecommendations are always tailored to meet yourspecific need. It’s what you would expect from theworld leader in nuclear energy.Features and Benefits• Velan valves promote longer cycle life, ensurereliable sealing, and relieve excess pressure• NPC is the exclusive distributor of Velan ASME IIIClass 1 valves• Greater valve strength reduces fatigue whileproviding superior sealing ability and a longerlife cycleReliable SealingVelan’s sealing memory is induced into the seatsduring the assembly process. When the ball isinserted into the valve body during assembly, itpartially flattens the seat, creating a tensile stressin the center. As a result, the seat core increasesin diameter from D 1 to D 2 and pushes against theball, similar to a stretched elastic band. This methodof operation ensures reliable sealing — even atvacuum or low pressures.Longer Cycle Life, LessPressure and Lower TorqueA seat in tension is stronger than a seat incompression. For example, the tensile strength ofPTFE in tension is 3600 psi, versus only 1800 psifor PTFE in compression. Greater strength meansless fatigue, superior sealing ability and longer lifecycle. The memory seal seats also relieve excesspressure while the “in-tension” seats produce moreuniform torque.
