<strong>2009</strong>-<strong>10</strong> Calgary FlamesMedia guidelines summaryPeter HanlonVice President,CommunicationsSean KelsoManager,Media RelationsPLAYER MEDIA AVAILABILITY DURINGTRAINING CAMP• Training camp will take place at the PengrowthSaddledome. There will be three groups of playersduring Training Camp consisting of 56 players.The group will be available to the media at the<strong>com</strong>pletion of their training day, which consists ofon-ice followed by off-ice sessions.• For fitness testing times please contact the FlamesCommunications Department. All medicals andfitness testing will take place in the Flames lockerroom and training facility. As a result, mediaavailability will occur in another designated area.Testing and medicals are closed to the media.• Cameras and photographers are permitted on thevisitors’ bench only for practice sessions. At notime will media be permitted on either bench duringscrimmage.• Please check the Flames media information line fordaily updates pertaining to the training scheduleand Head Coach Brent Sutter’s media availabilitytimes. The media information line is 403-777-3666.REGULAR SEASON PRACTICE ACCESSBernie HargraveAdministrativeAssistant,Communications• Standard practice time will be 11:00 a.m. Game dayskates will be at <strong>10</strong>:00 a.m. Please note practicetimes may vary. We will make every effort to informyou in such a situation.• The dressing room will remain closed before andduring practice. When the dressing room door isclosed, access is not permitted.• Access to the dressing room will be grantedfollowing practice per <strong>NHL</strong> regulations: Fiveminutes following first group of players (whoparticipated in the practice) leaving the ice for noless than 30 minutes. In the event of a meeting,the dressing room will be open until the meetingbegins and again following the meeting for at least30 minutes.• Media access is permitted in the main locker roomand foyer.• Media access to the home players’ bench is notpermitted during practice.• Brent Sutter will be available within 20 minutesfollowing practice in a media conference format in adesignated area near the dressing room. Individualinterview (one-on-one) requests will only be grantedin special circumstances and on advance notice.GAME DAY AND POST GAME• On request, players will be available to the mediafor interviews for a 30 minute period up to 90minutes prior to game time. Preferably, mediainterviews should be conducted following themorning practice.• Requests for players/coaches for broadcastpre-tape interviews must be made to the<strong>com</strong>munications department before 11:00 a.m.on game day. In the case of “quick hits”, pleaseprovide with at least two minutes remaining in theperiod with a back-up option.• Dressing room will open to media five minutesafter the game with same areas as stated aboveavailable for interviews.• Brent Sutter will be available (in a media conferenceformat) within 20 minutes of the conclusion of thegame. The post game media conference will takeplace in the media lounge. The dressing room willremain open during the coach’s press conference.• Please request credentials 24 hours in advanceof the game in which you have been assigned tocover. In the case of full-time credential media,please inform us, when possible, if you are notattending a particular game.PHOTOGRAPHY/TELEVISION CAMERAS• Please follow credential guidelines outlined above.Free-lance photographers will only be grantedcredentials when on assignment from a mediaoutlet.• Photographers/Cameras are permitted to shootFlames practice from the visiting team bench orstands only.• Television rightsholders may place one handheldcamera on the bench during warm-up once theplayers have taken the ice (local – home benchonly).• Photographers will be guaranteed one location forthe first period. Other period shooting locations willbe coordinated during the game.
