We have also committed to theMichigan <strong>Health</strong> & Hospital Association’s goal of purchasing20% of our hospital food locally by 2020.Tips for <strong>Health</strong>y Eating<strong>Health</strong> risks are associated with greater intake of foodsthat are high in sodium, solid fats, added sugars andrefined grains. To encourage healthy eating, foods containingtrans fat, those high in saturated fat, fried foods and thesalt packet have been removed from our <strong>menu</strong>.When selecting your meals consider choosing more fruits,vegetables, beans and whole grains, if your diet allows.These foods are full of the nutrients your body needs to heal.We are pleased to offer <strong>patient</strong>s Boar’s Head brandreduced sodium hot dogs and chicken, all-natural hormone,nitrate and antibiotic free turkey, ham and roast beef.Boar’s Head meats and cheeses contain no fillers, gluten,artificial colors, flavors or trans fat.MyPlate.govIn 2010, we broke ground on The Farm at St. Joe’s, Michigan’sfirst hospital-based farm supplying farm-fresh greens andvegetables for <strong>patient</strong> and visitor meals. We also partnerwith local farmers to enhance our <strong>patient</strong> <strong>menu</strong> with fresh,seasonal food whenever possible.
