coded the entire data set. There were six discrepancies. The survey data was downloaded<br />

<strong>and</strong> entered <strong>in</strong>to SPSS Release 16.0. Inter-coder reliability was analyzed us<strong>in</strong>g Cohen‘s<br />

kappa (κ; Cohen, 1960). The kappa value for the open ended questions was κ = .88, p =<br />

.000. This kappa value is considered ―excellent‖ (κ ≥ 0.80 approach<strong>in</strong>g 0.90; Hruschka et<br />

al., 2004; Miles & Huberman, 1994).<br />

3.2.3. Results<br />

Participants <strong>in</strong> the SHB group reported that what they liked the most about the<br />

program was learn<strong>in</strong>g <strong>and</strong> chang<strong>in</strong>g their th<strong>in</strong>k<strong>in</strong>g, the positive <strong>in</strong>teraction with research<br />

staff, changes <strong>in</strong> their behaviour, hav<strong>in</strong>g a beneficial experience, <strong>and</strong> that the work was<br />

manageable. What they liked the least was the time constra<strong>in</strong>t <strong>of</strong> 8 weeks for the<br />

program, the lack <strong>of</strong> counsel<strong>in</strong>g, difficulty with the usability <strong>of</strong> techniques (e.g., some<br />

participants reported that <strong>in</strong>teroceptive exposure was <strong>not</strong> appropriate for their symptoms),<br />

the questionnaires, <strong>and</strong> the sett<strong>in</strong>g (there was a compla<strong>in</strong>t about park<strong>in</strong>g at the AIBL).<br />

Participants found the read<strong>in</strong>g <strong>and</strong> <strong>in</strong>teraction with research staff to be easy <strong>and</strong> they<br />

appreciated the convenience <strong>of</strong> the program. Participants found the exercises <strong>and</strong><br />

practic<strong>in</strong>g newly learned skills to be difficult. The SHB group recommended that the<br />

program be changed <strong>in</strong> the future to <strong>in</strong>clude more <strong>in</strong>-person counsel<strong>in</strong>g, more time<br />

allocated to the treatment, <strong>and</strong> some changes to the treatment delivery.<br />
