� Hypervigilance to bodily sensations <strong>and</strong> changes<br />

� Difficulty accept<strong>in</strong>g medical reassurance<br />

� Somatosensory amplification: Benign bodily changes <strong>and</strong><br />

sensations (e.g., blemishes, mild aches <strong>and</strong> pa<strong>in</strong>s) that are<br />

mis<strong>in</strong>terpreted<br />

Somatic � Anxiety-related bodily reactions (e.g., palpitations)<br />

Affective � Fear <strong>of</strong> currently hav<strong>in</strong>g a harmful disease<br />

� Fear <strong>of</strong> contract<strong>in</strong>g a harmful disease <strong>in</strong> the future<br />

� Fear or anxiety <strong>of</strong> exposure to disease-related stimuli<br />

Behavioural � Repeatedly check<strong>in</strong>g one‘s body<br />

� Reassurance seek<strong>in</strong>g (e.g., from physicians or significant<br />

others) that one does <strong>not</strong> have serious symptoms or disease<br />

� Repeated requests for medical tests<br />

� Check<strong>in</strong>g other sources <strong>of</strong> medical <strong>in</strong>formation (e.g., Internet<br />

searches <strong>of</strong> medical websites)<br />

� Avoid<strong>in</strong>g or escap<strong>in</strong>g disease-related stimuli<br />
