Be sure to clear ice and snow from the wiper bladesbefore using them. If they’re frozen to the windshield,carefully loosen or thaw them. If the blades dobecome damaged, replace them with new blades.See “Windshield Wiper Blade Replacement” inthe Index.Heavy snow or ice can overload the wiper motor.A circuit breaker will stop the motor until it cools.Clear away snow or ice to prevent an overload.CAUTION:In freezing weather, don’t use your washer untilthe windshield is warmed. Otherwise the washerfluid can form ice on the windshield, blockingyour vision.Windshield WasherPull and hold thewasher lever to washthe windshield. Releasethe lever when you haveenough fluid. Cruise ControlWith cruise control, you can maintain a speed of about25 mph (40 km/h) or more without keeping yourfoot on the accelerator. This can help on long trips.Cruise control does not work at speeds below about25 mph (40 km/h).Cruise control shuts off when you apply the brakes.CAUTION: Cruise control can be dangerous whereyou can’t drive safely at a steady speed.So, don’t use your cruise control onwinding roads or in heavy traffic. Cruise control can be dangerous onslippery roads. On such roads, fast changesin tire traction can cause needless wheelspinning, and you could lose control.Don’t use cruise control on slippery roads.If your vehicle is in cruise control when the tractioncontrol begins to limit wheel spin, the cruise controlwill automatically disengage. (See “Traction ControlSystem” in the Index.) When road conditions allow youto safely use it again, you may turn the cruise controlback on.2-38
