Theterrorists are from theIslamic armed group ora l s o k n o w n a s t h eAlgerian terrorist thatare dressed as Algerianpresidential police fordisguise. The hijackingt o o k p l a c e a t t h ebloodiest stage of thecivil war in Algeria.The skyjackers requested 27 tonesof fuel in order for the plane tofly to Paris from Marseille. 9-10tones of fuel are needed to performa flight to Paris. The request soonstrengthens the suspicion of theFrench police/forces that theaircraft will be utilized as afi r e b o m b t o a n n i h i l a t e P a r i s .Passengers who were released inAlgiers mentioned that the A-300plane were equipped with explosivestherefore the French government didnot permit the aircraft to leaveout Hourari Boumedinne airport,regardless of the consequences. Thehijackers also demanded that theaircraft would leave the airportsecurely without any pose of threatfrom the French.T h e t e r r o r i s tnegotiators delayedthe final demand byproviding the aircraftw a t e r a n d f o o d ,p r o v i d i n g v a c u u mcleaners, necessaryitems needed in anaircraft, etc. TheFrench GIGN operativew e r e d i s g u i s e d a sr e g u l a r a i r p o r tpersonnel’s and soondiscovered that anyo b s t a c l e s d i d n o tblock the plane doorsnor booby traps placedin all correspondingentry doors.

G I G N a r etrained to performcounter-terrorist andh o s t a g e r e s c u emissions in France oranywhere else in theworld.A tally taken of casualties:All 4 hijackers are dead, 9GIGN members are wounded, 1seriously, but none fatal.1 3 p a s s e n g e r s a n d 3crewmembers are also injuredbut recuperated later andfully recover from theirwounds. All in all 173passengers and crew havebeen rescued in about a 20-minute time span.The France government believesthat skyjacking is a time ofpolitical upheaval and it willjust create more chaos.
