Sketches ishere to explain some of thedesign industry's most widelyused terms so you can speakthe language, too. We'd like tostart with "on the boards" thisissue. Simply put, a project thatis on the boards is a project that hasn't started constructionyet. We're still tweaking the design of your building or officespace if it's still on the boards. The term originated whenarchitects worked with slide rules, pencils and t-squares ondrafting boards or desks. The old drafting board has beenreplaced with today's computers and sophisticated designsoftware, but the phrase has stuck.Does that help? Hope so. In the meantime, here's what we
