Day won by twostrokes over Brian Gay, Jeff Overton and BlakeAdams. Day came to the 72nd hole with a onestrokelead over playing partner Adams and hit hissecond shot in the water near the green. Adams,playing from the right trees, then hit his secondshot in the same hazard. Adams made doublebogey and Day got up and down for bogey.BRIAN GAYAt age 22 years, 6 months, 11 days, Jason Daybecame the 30th-youngest player to win a PGATOUR event. By comparison, he is two monthsyounger than Phil Mickelson was when he wonhis first event as a professional.
