Mickelson made birdies onthe par-3 12th hole and the par-5 13th hole to gaina working margin and sealed the win with birdieson the par-5 15th and par-4 18th. His 16-under-par272 total (67-71-67-67) was the lowest since TigerWoods shot the same score in 2001.The previous time Phil Mickelson recordedtwo eagles in a round was the final round of the2006 BellSouth Classic, which he won. Prior toSaturday’s third-round, back-to-back eagles in the2010 Masters, he had eight career rounds with apair of eagles on the PGA TOUR. Mickelson previouslyrecorded back-to-back eagles at the 2001British Open (first round, holes 6 and 7—bothpar 5s). Mickelson was close to recording a thirdstraight eagle on No. 15 in the third round whenhis third shot nearly found the hole. Since 1983, noplayer on TOUR has recorded three straight eagles.Matteo Manassero became the fourth-youngestplayer to make a cut on the PGA TOUR in 2009when he finished T12 at the British Open (16 years,2 months, 29 days). Manassero made the cut atthe 2010 Masters (16 years, 11 months, 21 days)to also grab the sixth spot in the record book foryoungest to make a cut on the PGA TOUR. He isthe youngest to make the cut in the Masters and inthe modern era at the British Open.
