3. The second medical certification is accepted by DMV.The <strong>State</strong> will not reimburse the employee for a second medical that sustains theresults <strong>of</strong> the first. Costs for additional medical re-examination shall be theresponsibility <strong>of</strong> the affected employee.<strong>12</strong>.4 Class A and/or Class B Driver’s License Fee ReimbursementA. Effective May 22, 1990, each department will reimburse a permanent employee for filingand examination fees associated <strong>with</strong> obtaining the appropriate commercial driver's licenseand endorsement(s) if the employee is: (1) in a classification that requires the operation <strong>of</strong>equipment which requires either a Class A or Class B commercial driver's license and anyendorsement(s), or (2) the classification designated by the department requires theemployee to upgrade his/her driver's license to a Class A and/or Class B commercialdriver's license and any endorsement(s), or (3) in a classification where a Class A and/orClass B commercial driver's license is an additional desirable qualification, provided:1. The employee is authorized at least 10 work days in advance by his/hersupervisor to take the examination;2. The employee has a valid, current medical certification acceptable to theDepartment <strong>of</strong> Motor Vehicles (DMV).3. The employee successfully passes the required examination and is issued thelicense and appropriate endorsement(s).B. Employees applying for renewal or reinstatement <strong>of</strong> a license due to an illegal violationwill not be reimbursed for any costs associated <strong>with</strong> obtaining a license as required by DMV.C. The <strong>State</strong> will not pay any additional cost incurred as a result <strong>of</strong> an employee's failure topass the written and/or performance test <strong>with</strong>in the opportunities allowed by the originalapplication fee.D. Reimbursement for commercial driver's license fees paid by an employee between May2, 1990 and March 1, 1991 shall not exceed $45.00. Effective March 1, 1991,reimbursement will be for that portion <strong>of</strong> the commercial driver's license fee (including thecost <strong>of</strong> endorsement(s) required by the appointing power) which exceeds the cost <strong>of</strong> theregular non-commercial Class C driver's license, provided the employee applies for therequired license and any required endorsement(s) simultaneously. If an employee fails totake all required extras simultaneously, reimbursement will not exceed the cost that wouldhave been incurred had the tests been taken simultaneously.<strong>12</strong>.5 Agricultural Pest Control LicensesA. The employer will reimburse employees for filing, examination, and renewal feesassociated <strong>with</strong> obtaining an appropriate Agricultural Pest Control License as defined inFood and Agriculture Code Section <strong>12</strong>201 et seq., provided:1. the employee is authorized in advance to take the exam or renew the certificate;and2. the employee successfully passes the required examination and is issued thecertificate.83BU <strong>12</strong>(99-01)
