2. Overtime shall be distributed as equally as practicable among employees who arequalified and available <strong>with</strong>in the appropriate work site.D. CompensationCompensation for overtime work will be in accordance <strong>with</strong> Section 7.7, OvertimeCompensation.E. Overtime Meals (Replaces Section 11.2)1. The <strong>State</strong> shall provide a meal allowance <strong>of</strong> up to $7.50 or furnish a meal when arotating shift employee is required to work at least two consecutive hours prior to ortwo consecutive hours after their regular work shift.2. When required to work for extended periods <strong>of</strong> overtime, for each additionalsix-hour period, after the rotating shift employee has qualified for the first overtimemeal allowance, the employee may be reimbursed for actual meal expenses up to$7.50. No more than three overtime meals may be claimed during a 24-hour period.8.5 Holidays (Replaces Article 8)A. Each calendar year, permanent, full-time DWR employees covered by this Section shallbe entitled to at least thirteen (13) floating holidays <strong>with</strong> pay, in lieu <strong>of</strong> those pre-existingholidays listed below. Holidays shall be accrued and credited on the day <strong>of</strong> the pre-existingholiday, except for the personal holiday which shall be accrued and credited on July 1 <strong>of</strong>each year.B. The pre-existing holidays are: January 1, third Monday in January, February <strong>12</strong>, the thirdMonday in February, the last Monday in May, July 4, the first Monday in September, thesecond Monday in October, November 11, Thanksgiving Day, the day after Thanksgiving,December 25, and one personal holiday.C. Employees shall request their holiday time <strong>of</strong>f in advance in accordance <strong>with</strong> the DWRvacation/holiday scheduling policy. In the event operational needs preclude approval <strong>of</strong>holiday time <strong>of</strong>f, the employee will be compensated for all unused holiday time. Payment forunused holiday time shall be made on a lump sum hour-for-hour basis at the end <strong>of</strong> thefiscal year, based upon the employee's current salary.D. Time during which the employee is excused from work because <strong>of</strong> holiday, vacation orother paid leave shall be considered as time worked for the purposes <strong>of</strong> computingovertime.8.6 Shift Premium (Replaces Section 2.6)A. Employees in classifications covered by the DWR Rotating Shift Operations Policy whoregularly work rotating shifts shall be paid a shift differential when the shifts are scheduledduring the qualifying hours listed below and the employee works the scheduled shift.1. Rotating shift employees covered by this section shall be entitled to the RotatingShift Premium <strong>of</strong> eighty cents ($.80) per hour in addition to their regular rate <strong>of</strong> paywhen working a scheduled day, evening or night shift.2. Employees shall be entitled to an evening shift differential <strong>of</strong> forty cents ($.40) perhour when four (4) or more hours <strong>of</strong> the regularly scheduled shift fall between 6:00p.m. and midnight.55BU <strong>12</strong>(99-01)
