B. The Department <strong>of</strong> Youth Authority will continue its practice <strong>of</strong> issuing personal alarmdevices to <strong>Unit</strong> <strong>12</strong> employees.C. Any disputes regarding availability or coverage by a personal alarm system will bereferred to the joint IUOE/Departmental health and safety committee for resolution.4.<strong>12</strong> Infectious Disease Control TrainingA. The <strong>State</strong> and IUOE recognize the need to continue to provide general information aboutinfectious diseases for employees <strong>of</strong> Mental health, Veteran's Affairs, DevelopmentalServices, Corrections, Youth Authority, Health Services, Park and Recreation, Caltrans, andin other Departments where employees come into contact <strong>with</strong> court assigned workers orinmates, wards, parolees, clients, patients or resident workers..B. The departments listed in "A" above will annually provide to Bargaining <strong>Unit</strong> <strong>12</strong>employees in-service training regarding infectious diseases. This training will be providedby a health care pr<strong>of</strong>essional or a qualified and knowledgeable trainer at least once a year.All trainers will possess demonstrable education and/or experience in the areas beingtaught. This training may include the following:1. Identification <strong>of</strong> infectious disease(s) that are <strong>of</strong> concern to Bargaining <strong>Unit</strong> <strong>12</strong>members in the working environment; and2. General information regarding these diseases including, but not limited to thefollowing:a. how the disease is transmitted;b. symptoms;c. courses <strong>of</strong> treatment;d. methods and procedures that should be followed to prevent contractingdisease.C. Bargaining <strong>Unit</strong> <strong>12</strong> members will attend this training on <strong>State</strong> time. Training may beprovided more <strong>of</strong>ten if deemed necessary.D. It is understood by the parties that the listed departments currently have training andinformation resources that can be used for purposes <strong>of</strong> in-service training.4.13 Vehicle Inspection - District FairsThe <strong>State</strong> agrees to have all motor vehicles at District Agricultural Association Fairsinspected for safety by the Inspector <strong>of</strong> Automotive Equipment as soon as practical andmake necessary repairs as the <strong>State</strong> determines necessary.ARTICLE 5 - UNION RIGHTS5.1 RepresentativesA. The <strong>State</strong> recognizes and agrees to deal <strong>with</strong> IUOE on the following employer-employeerelations matters:1.
