G. Heavy Equipment Mechanics in CDF will receive <strong>12</strong> hours <strong>of</strong> wild land fire safety training<strong>with</strong>in <strong>12</strong> months following appointment to the classification. The training will be provided atthe ranger unit and/or CDF Academy by field/Academy training <strong>of</strong>ficers. Currentincumbents will receive the training <strong>with</strong>in one year <strong>of</strong> ratification <strong>of</strong> this <strong>Memorandum</strong> <strong>of</strong><strong>Understanding</strong>.16.2 Private RoomsA. When staying overnight on <strong>State</strong>-required training in a commercial establishment, the<strong>State</strong> will accommodate individual requests for private rooms on a space available basis.Commercial establishments shall be functional, emphasizing clean and comfortable rooms.The rooms must meet the basic needs <strong>of</strong> comfort and cleanliness.B. For academies and other training situations where the <strong>State</strong> has contracted forcommercial rates based upon double occupancy, the employer will attempt toaccommodate individual requests for private rooms on a space available basis; however, ifsuch a request is accommodated, the employee requesting a private room will assume theadditional costs.16.3 Training CommitteeA. The <strong>State</strong> and the Union shall establish a joint Labor Management Committee for thepurpose <strong>of</strong> evaluating training and upgrading in <strong>Unit</strong> <strong>12</strong>.B. The Committee shall be comprised <strong>of</strong> four representatives selected by the Union andfour representatives selected by the <strong>State</strong>.C. The Committee shall determine who among the eight members <strong>of</strong> the committee shall bethe chairperson.D. In the event the committee recommends the establishment <strong>of</strong> training programs in <strong>Unit</strong><strong>12</strong>, the recommendation shall be adopted and the <strong>State</strong> shall participate in trainingprograms utilizing IUOE training funds and contributing to such funds consistent <strong>with</strong> othercontributing employers.16.4 Joint Apprenticeship CommitteesA. The state and the union support the establishment and operation <strong>of</strong> apprenticeshipprograms where deemed appropriate <strong>with</strong>in <strong>State</strong> <strong>Unit</strong> <strong>12</strong>.B. IUOE and the <strong>State</strong> agree that any apprenticeship program that is established for <strong>State</strong>employees <strong>with</strong>in any Agency, Department or subdivision <strong>of</strong> the <strong>State</strong> that would produce,upon successful completion <strong>of</strong> such a program, placement in a position or title that isassigned <strong>with</strong>in the exclusive representation unit determined by PERB for <strong>Unit</strong> <strong>12</strong>, shall beadministered in accordance <strong>with</strong> the following provisions:1. The classification <strong>of</strong> positions and the selection process shall be governed andadministered in accordance <strong>with</strong> <strong>State</strong> Personnel Board rules and regulations;2. Each Apprenticeship program shall be in accord and conform in all respects <strong>with</strong>the rules and regulations for apprenticeship <strong>of</strong> the Division <strong>of</strong> ApprenticeshipStandards, Department <strong>of</strong> Industrial Relations;101BU <strong>12</strong>(99-01)
