In Memory <strong>of</strong> David Ahern - BCN 1975<br />

David Michael “Dave” Ahern, 55, died<br />

May 27, 2009 in Sunrise Medical Center,<br />

Las Vegas, NV, from injuries sustained<br />

in an accidental fall.<br />

Dave graduated from the University <strong>of</strong><br />

Florida with a degree in building construction,<br />

but soon found that his true<br />

calling in life was as a firefighter and<br />

Emergency Medical Technician.<br />

Dave lived in Clarkdale, NV since 1980.<br />

He joined Clarkdale Fire Department<br />

in 1980 as a volunteer and served as volunteer Fire Chief from<br />

1984-1987. As Chief he initiated EMS services for Clarkdale. In<br />

1987 he was hired by Cottonwood Fire Department as a career<br />

firefighter. However, he continued to volunteer with Clarkdale<br />

Fire until 1994 when he was hired by Sedona Fire District. He<br />

was also a Hazardous Materials Technician.<br />

In Memory <strong>of</strong> Carl Graves - BCN 1983<br />

Carl Leighton Graves who graduated from the University<br />

<strong>of</strong> Florida with a building construction degree<br />

passed away on March 30, 2009. During his years in<br />

the engineering industry he worked for Alpine, a division<br />

<strong>of</strong> ITW <strong>Building</strong> Components Group, Inc. He<br />

later became a successful entrepreneur in the Atlanta<br />

restaurant market. He was a devoted husband and father.<br />

Family and friends speak <strong>of</strong> Carl with love and<br />

respect for his kind spirit and dedication to his family.<br />

Dave retired in 2007 as a Fire Captain/Paramedic. Due to his<br />

strong desire to continue serving his community, Dave ran for and<br />

was elected to the Clarkdale Fire District Board <strong>of</strong> Directors in<br />

November 2008.<br />

A lifelong outdoorsman and hunter, Dave supported conservation<br />

and education programs designed to enhance wilderness<br />

experiences for all ages.<br />

Beloved son and brother,<br />

loyal friend and devoted<br />

husband, Dave is survived<br />

by his wife Sara, brothers<br />

Frank and Larry, and sister<br />

Cara.<br />

A testament to his effect on those around him<br />

was unmistakable by the hundreds <strong>of</strong> people<br />

who attended his memorial service in Duluth,<br />

Georgia. He is truly missed and will never be<br />

forgotten. Carl is survived by his wife, Natalie<br />

Graves, his children Jack, Chase and Chelsea,<br />

and his two stepchildren Taylor and Nicole.<br />
