<strong>Kingsland</strong> <strong>Bay</strong> <strong>State</strong> <strong>Park</strong><strong>Kingsland</strong> <strong>Bay</strong> <strong>State</strong> <strong>Park</strong> sits on the shores ofLake Champlain. Much of the 264-acre park is a<strong>State</strong> Natural Area.The historic Hawley House c.1790, was builtwith stones from the ruins of Fort Ticonderoga.The house served as an inn for travelers, withferry service from <strong>Kingsland</strong> <strong>Bay</strong> across the laketo New York. The second floor served as a ballroomfor dances and festivities. During the Warof 1812, the Hawley House was used for housingthe militia. At the turn of the 20 th century itbecame a monastic retreat and the bell tower wasadded to the structure. The Hawley House hasbeen renovated and contains local history displaysdeveloped by the Lake Champlain MaritimeMuseum, <strong>State</strong> Historic Sites, and <strong>Vermont</strong><strong>State</strong> <strong>Park</strong>s.From 1924-1974, the property was the locationof the L’Ecole Champlain girls’ summercamp.Today, the park is a popular place to holdweddings, reunions and other events. The renovatedbanquet hall, theatre building and HawleyHouse are capable of hosting groups from 10-150 people.
