Moki dodamo sol,rum, stopljeno maslo in rumenjake.Zamesimo testo in ga pustimo počivati 1uro. Nato ga razvaljamo na 1 prst debelo.Za nadev zmešamo skuto, smetano,rumenjake, sladkor, vanilij in maslo.Nazadnje primešamo še sneg vseh jajc.Če je nadev preredek, ga zgostimo zdrobtinami. Vse dobro premešamo innadev namažemo na razvaljeno testo.Namazeno testo zvijamo in ga položimo vnamazen pekač. Pustimo da poticavzhaja, tako dolgo, da se pečica ogrejena 180° C. Potico premažemo zrazžvrkljanim jajcem. Večkrat prebodemoin pečemo 50 minut. Ko potico zvrnemo izpekača, jo premažemo z mlekom inpustimo, da se malo ohladi, potem joposipamo s sladkorjem v prahu.Cottage Cheese PoticaDough:1 kg floursalt3 egg yolks3 tablespoons sugar1 tablespoon rum12 dkg butter8 dkg yeastFilling:1 kg cottage cheese2 dl thick cream10 dkg butter4 egg yolks2 (packets) vanilla sugar15 dkg sugar5 tablespoons breadcrumbs8 egg whites1 egg0.5 dl milk for coating(Add the sugar and yeast to the melted butterand leave to grow a little.) Add salt, rum,melted butter and egg yolks to the flour.Knead dough and leave to rest for 1 hour.Then roll it out to the thickness of 1 finger.For the filling, mix together cottage cheese,cream, egg yolks, sugar, vanilla and butter.Last, add the beaten egg whites. If the fillingis too runny, thicken it with the breadcrumbs.Mix everything together well and spread thefilling over the rolled out dough. Roll up thedough and place in a greased baking tin.Leave the potica to rise for as long as it takesthe oven to heat to 180° C. Coat the poticawith the beaten egg. Prick it many times andbake for 50 minutes. Polastilase nas je zlata mrzlica in v torek 10.oktobra, s Premier Stateline coach -avtobusom, ob 8h zjutraj, smo polnipričakovanja odpeljali s klubskegadvorišča proti Ballaratu z neugasljivohajko na zlato.Vso pot nas je spremljalo in ogervalotoplo sonce. Ko je nastal čas zarazbremenitev, šofer David je ustavilvozilo vsakih par ur in ker je poznal krajein njih tisoč skrivnosti, nam je vsepovsododkril kaj lepega.Kot bi nas kdo drezal v živec, potovalismo kakor bi imeli v sebi čimvečprožnega duha. Hihitanje in muzanje seje razlegalo od konca do krajaprostornega avtobusa. Verjetno takohecno se smejejo in potujejo le potepuhi.Od tu dalje opuščam vse bahanje. Dazabeležim trezno in doživeto, kot jetreba.Po devet urni vožnji - Ballarat - tu smopred Park View Motor Inn Motelom innašim domom za naslednje tri noči. Poosvežitvi in kratkem sprehodu nas ječakala, primerno naporu, dobro naloženavečerja.Drugo jutro, novi listi starih pouličnihbrestov so se magično srebrili v zaspanihočeh radovednih potnikov. Ballarat,stopetdeset let staro mesto zdevetinsedemdeset tisoč prebivalci, imadve univerzi, široke z drevjem zasajeneulice, veliko razkošnih zgodovinskihpalač in drugih zanimivosti. S četrtarskimi parcelami ter z mnogimi parki,brez modernih stolpnic je mesto zelorazpotegnjeno in prijetno.Na pot, na pot! Mimo Wendouree jezera,ki je zaradi suše prazno, smo se srečnopripeljali v botanični vrt. Ogledali smo sispomenik vojnih ujetnikov, vseh vojn.Občudovali smo in se čudili dragocenimmarmornatim kipom in levoma sčloveškimi zobmi.BallaratNazaj v srce mesta in sicer, v BallaratFine Art Gallery. To je največjapokrajinska galerija, kjer je med drugimrazstavljena originalna Eureka zastava žeod leta 1895.Po ogledu mesta je nastal čas pouličnihdirk, z lovom na sladoled in na sadje, kiga je v ballaratskih trgovinah težko najti.Popoldan je bil določen za pogled nazaj vzlato dobo davnega leta 1851, ko je krajiz stopetdesetih duš, v manj kot dvehtednih narastel na dvajset tisoč ljudi. Vseje še ohranjeno, kot je bilo tistegadavnega leta.V prahu in vročini hodilismo mimo:Pekarn, kovačnic, šol, livarn, hotelov,bank, mimo zasilnih bivakov, itd.Mrzlica, mrzlica! Z mislijo sem blodil inrazmišljal, kako neki so mogli takratnisiromaki, od vseh koncev in krajev, pešmrzlično riniti naloženo samokolnico, daso končno: Potni prašni, opikani od muhin komarjev prišli na cilj.Eureka Stockade zastavaIstega dne, po večerji, smo doživeli še enrazburljiv dogodek. Namreč na površinidvajset arskega Sovereign Hill-a so namuprizorili dramo: "Blood on theSouthern Cross." Drama celovitopedstavi v živo, kot se je takrat dogajalabitka: "Eureka Stockade". Gledali smo vcelotno razpletanje pretresljivih dejanj,od požara Eureka Hotela, do spletkin bitke same, ki je zatrla upor, a vseenoolajšala življenje rudarjev.7

Rdeči plameni požara sorazsvetljevali okolje in naša lica, ko pa jegromozonsko poknilo iz topa nam jevzelo sapo.Nekoliko preplašeni smo se potemzarežali na vsa usta.Tretji dan smo zastavili korak preko"Macedon Ranges."V bližini Daylesford-a smo vzstopili vistoimenski, v galerijo obnovljensamostan. Bil je ustanovljen leta 1890,razpuščen leta 1986. Ima sedmeroindividualnih galerij, trdijo, najlepših vAvstraliji. Nekateri mu dajejo laskavinaslon: "Tempelj umetnosti, hrane,kulture in zgodovine."No ja, v Viktoriji se pač radi izražajo vsuperlativih!Ob slovesu pred galerijo Daylesford se jegospe R. Sever, na debelo posutem šodrunesrečno spodrsnilo. Navkljub, da smo znjo vsi sočustvovali in jo tolažili, vendarji ni nihče s kakšnim čarodejnim 'AbraKadabra' znal pomagati. Upamo vsaj in jiželimo, da bi kmalu spet lahko veselozaplesala.Po obilnem vegetarjanskem kosilu smose brez teže nahrbtnikov, z vrh MountMacedon počasi spuščali v dolinozačudeni nad lesenimi hišami, ki se obcesti levo in desno skrivajo po grmovju.Izgleda vsaj, da nas pepelnična sreda niprav nič naučila.Za naslednjo postajo so nam izbraliYulong Lavender Farm. Zadišalo je posivkinem cvetju, pogled se nam je razlilpreko sivkinih gred. V notranjosti so namponudili suho cvetje, razne terapevtskežavbe, aromatična olja - za masažo inaromaterapijo in še kaj.Nazaj domov! To petkovo jutro smozopet strpali prtljago na avtobus. Da biveč vidli je avtobus zapeljal protiGrampians hribom in si oddahnil šele vkraju "Halls Gap". Od tam je cestazavijala navzgor v Grampians NationalPark. Šli smo mimo ožganih melišč,mimo belih 'Black Boys', ki so kotsanjavi žandarji čakali, da se bahavorazcvetijo.Težko je stisniti v en sam stavek tolikolepote, prisrčnosti in življenske izkušnje.Vsak je lahko s poti pobral nekaj zase, kimu bo še dolgo ostalo nepozabno.Ob drdranju motorja tih zdaj brskam posvoji malodušnosti in spet molčim. Mislikar same blodijo po osušeni planjavi;visijo na posameznih hribih, strmijo vstare fajbrove in pločevinaste hiške in semotajo po prepečenih žitnih poljih,travnikih in suhih potokih.Kdor je pridno opazoval se je vrnil bogat,z dobro voljo. Morda drugič bomo šli še… kam?Pred večernim mrakom, z zlatim prahomobteženi, prepričani, da smo bogati, zradostjo v srcih smo se razšli.GOSPA OLGA HRVATIN, hvala zadobro organiziran izlet, za Vaš trud, zabrige in skrbi!8Ivan LegišaSLOVENIANTOURISTDuring November <strong>2006</strong> Lučka LesjakSoklič from Slovenia visited Australiaand her itineraryy included Melbourne,<strong>Adelaide</strong>, Cairns, Brisbane and Sydney.Lučka bravely drove from Melbourne to<strong>Adelaide</strong> along the Great Ocean Road, nosmall feat considering she had neverdriven on the “other side of the road” (inEurope they drive on the right hand side)and she was travelling alone! She said itis one thing to see the size of Australiaon a map but you really don’t appreciatethe distances until you travel them.Lučka has completed a degree inArchitecture from Ljubljana Universitywhich included a year’s study in Vienna(she speaks German and of courseSlovenian). She is currently undertakingpost-graduate studies in architecture inLjubljana.I spent a few hours with her on a Fridayafternoon on her rapid fire trip to<strong>Adelaide</strong> and I must say her command ofthe English language is excellent, fluent,not once having to venture into mybroken Slovenian. Ker jih ne moreproizvajati samo, jih moramovnašati s hrano ali s prehranskimidodatki. Pripravili smo pregledniconajpomembnejših vitaminov innasvete, kako in kdaj jih jemati, daboste v prvih pomladnih dnehpokali od zdravja.Vitamini in minerali morajo biti vprimernem razmerju, da najboljedelujejo. Vitamini se v osnovi delijona tiste, ki so topljivi v maščobi, intiste, ki so topljivi v vodi. V prvoskupino sodijo vitamini A, D, E in K. Vtelo jih vnašamo z maščobo v hrani,njihove zaloge pa se kopičijo vmaščobnih tkivih. Teh vitaminov nipotrebno uživati vsak dan,prekomerne količine pa se kopičijo vtelesu. V skupino vitaminov, ki sotopljivi v vodi, sodi devet vitaminov,njihove presežke pa lažje odstranimoiz telesa kot tiste iz prve skupine.Vitamin CJe pomemben antioksidant, kipomaga pri celjenju ran, raztapljavitamin E in je pomemben za zdravezobe, kosti, dlesni, vezi in žile. Polegtega vitamin C izboljša absorbcijokalcija, železa in folne kisline. Če imanaše telo ves čas dovolj vitamina C,lahko s tem zmanjšamo tveganje zaraka, srčno kap in mnoge drugebolezni. Potrebe po tem vitaminu sopovečane po operacijah, kadar smopod stresom in pri sladkornihbolnikih. Še posebej veliko pa gapotrebujejo kadilci. Pri prevelikikoličini vitamina C se lahko pojavijoslabost, driska, zniža se količinabakra in vitamina B 12 v telesu.Največ tega vitamina je v beluših,brokoliju, limonah, pomarančah,kiviju, jagodah, brstičnem ohrovtu,rozinah, ananasu, zeleni papriki,mangu in v paradižniku.Vitamin APomemben je za dober vid, krepiimunski sistem in je enanajpomembnejših sestavin za zdravein trdne kosti. Pri preveliki količini selahko pojavijo glavoboli, bruhanje,zamegljen vid in težave pri delovanjujeter.Največ vitamina A je v pomarančah,v rdeči, rumeni in oranžni zelenjavi,solati, jajcih in govejih jetrih.Vitamin EZagotavlja normalno delovanje celicin sprošča encime. Pomemben je za10tvorbo rdečih krvnih telesc, uravnavapa tudi delovanje živcev in jepomemben antioksidant. Preprečujearteriosklerozo in bolezni srca,znižuje povišan krvni tlak, krepiimunski sistem, ščiti pljuča predškodljivimi vplivi okolja. Ublaži lahkosimptome menopavze in zmanjšujemožnosti za Alzheimerjevo inParkinsonovo bolezen. Če gavzamemo preveč, lahko povzročiželodčne bolečine ali oslabidelovanje imunskega sistema.Največ vitamina E je v rjavem rižu,solati, zelju, kiviju, oreščkih,stročnicah, papaji, semenih, soji,špinači, paradižniku, rastlinskih oljih,ovseni in pšenični moki.Vitamin DPomemben je pri absorbciji kalcija,fosforja, magnezija in cinka. Preprečuje lahkotudi depresijo in nam pomagaohranjati možgane v kondiciji tudi vzrelih letih. Prevelike količine tegavitamina lahko povzročijopreobčutljivost na svetlobo inpoškodbe živčnega sistema.Veliko vitamina B6 je v bananah,fižolu, kvasu, brokoliju, rjavem rižu,korenju, piščančjem mesu, ribah,grahu, krompirju, soji, špinači,sončničnih semenih in svinjini.Vitamin B12Pomemben je za delovanje živčnihvlaken, pomaga pri tvorbi novih celicin preprečuje slabokrvnost. Jeklasična ročna masaža z dodatkometeričnih olj, ki se med masažo vtirajov kožo. Uporabljajo se posebna oljaza sprostitev, za osvežitev, za dvigrazpoloženja in olje za psihično infizično sprostitev.Poleg klasičnih masaž je vzdraviliščih, kozmetičnih salonih insprostitvenih centrih še veliko"vzhodnjaških" in drugihtradicionalnih masaž. Unveiling a report on thesustainability of public finances onThursday, 12 October in Brussels, theCommission said that Slovenia was oneof six countries most vulnerable to faceproblems with the sustainability of publicfinances.It moreover said that the country wasamong the three EU members that areexpected to face the most seriousconsequences of ageing on the budgetbecause of the growing spending onpensions. The Commission thereforecalled on Slovenia to urgently enactchanges to the pension system.The projected expenditure related topopulation ageing is expected to increaseby 9.7% of GDP between 2004 and 2050,with public pension expenditure up 7.3%of GDP.The Commission warned that although14Slovenia implemented a promisingpension system in 1999, a lawintroducing indexation in 2005 weakenedthe effects of the initial reform.The only thing alleviating the debt that isto arise because of ageing in Slovenia isthe relatively low rate of public debt atthe moment, the Commission added.Slovenia must implement further changesto the pension system to curb futureexpenditure and reduce the risk for thelong-term sustainability of publicfinance.Despite the stark warning, the SlovenianMinistry of Finance claims that thepublic finance system is clearlysustainable at least until 2020.Slovenia is pursuing a prudent publicfinance policy with a gradual reductionof the deficit, it has also framed a broadset of reform measures that will boostgrowth, employment and productivity,which in turn will improve sustainabilityin the long term, the ministry said in apress release.Marko Štrovs of the Ministry of Labour,Family and Social Affairs struck asimilarly positive note in a statement forSTA, saying that Slovenia was aware ofthe problem and it has been reformingthe pension system for a decade.According to him, Slovenia will have tofind solutions in creating jobs and raisingthe retirement age.The EU has proposed the employment offoreigners as a possible measure tocounterbalance the negative impact ofageing, but Štrovs said that thegovernment was not particularly keen onthat. Micky Dolenz a famousAmerican Slovenian whose father comesfrom the Gorica region of Slovenia.ZGOŠČENKE - CDsSIDDHARTA – PETROLEAAt the beginning of June, Slovenian rockgroup Siddharta released their fourthalbum - “Petrolea.” The release party tookplace at Cvetličarna Mediapark hall inLjubljana.Fans of the group had to wait quite sometime for the release of Petrolea, as it hadbeen nearly three years since the releaseof Siddharta’s last album “Rh-”. For theirnew album the group members haddecided on a different method ofpromotion – to invite fans, friends andco-workers to a party where the albumwas premiered and the music video forthe first single “Plastika” was screenedfor the first time. The purpose of theparty was to celebrate and toast (a fewtimes) the brand new album and also forthe group to find out what the gueststhought about “Petrolea.” The eventstarted three hours prior to the officialrelease of the album and guests at theevent were the first to have theopportunity to buy their own copy of“Petrolea”.In recent years Siddharta hasundoubtedly been one of the mostsuccessful Slovenian bands,internationally as well as in Slovenia.Selling out a huge concert with thesymphonic orchestra at the centralstadium in Ljubljana was just the icingon the cake for them. Through the tenyears of their existence they have, in theirfour albums, evolved from a typical lowbudgetgarage band to a popular butsomehow still unique group as a result oftheir distinctive sound and charismaticfrontman Tomi Meglič. Although theyhave translated some of their older lyricsinto English, they have preserved astrong Slovenian sound and identity. Partof it has to do with the fact that theyknow their linguistic limits; the other partis that they are convinced their sound hasmore soul to it when they perform inSlovenian, since it enables them toshowcase their unique personal style.Previous to “Petrolea” the boys haddeveloped a slightly harder sound with alot of metal grips and philosophicallyrics. The sound of the album “Rh-” washeavily polished and therefore heavierwhen played live at concerts.“Petrolea” represents a return to theirroots, a return to the garage sound theyhad ten years ago. The lyrics neverthelesshave continued in the tradition of beingdeep, clever and open to interpretation.The spring release of their new albumwas no accident. The guys wantedlisteners to have time to weigh up thenew album, and to have time themselvesto develop the live sound. They did notplan to promote the album until autumn.They instead planned during the summerto watch this year’s Mondial and relax abit at the seaside. I have just received mywinter edition of “Slovenia SA” and readthe English columns with great interest.Considering that I was a resident inMaribor for three years, 1941-1944, Isuppose I should have learned to speakSlovenian. Unfortunately as the rulingauthorities at that time ordered, “SprichDeutsch, die Sprache deinerGemeinschaft” the locals, wisely, spokeSlovenian only in the privacy of theirhomes. They wouldn’t speak to meanyway if there was any possibility oftheir having been seen doing so. In spiteof this I did pick up a little Slovenian butalas long since lost it.I still correspond with one old friend inMaribor, Tone Kropusek, who speaksEnglish but, defeated by the spelling ofthat language, writes to me in German, alanguage in which I became fluent but inwhich now, for lack of use, I’m a bitrusty. I write in English to Vili Kos andLado Pohar both of Ljubljana. Lado wasinterpreter for U.S. Major FranklinLindsay, the Allies’ emissary to theStajerska and Koroska partisans. Vili wasin the party which put us across the Sava.I join you in celebration of Slovenia’sfifteenth anniversary, of secession fromJugoslavia. I suppose that, to thedelegates at the Versailles peaceconference in 1919, the federation of thesix south Slav peoples must have seemeda good idea.
