Text 110] The Lord's Visit to Sri Vrndavana 185sons replied; sannyasi tumi-You are a sannyasi; jarigama -narayaQa-movingNarayal)a.TRANSLATIONSri Caitanya Mahaprabhu then asked them, "Where have vou seen Kradirectly?" The people replied, "You are a sannyasi, a renunciant; thereforeYou are a moving Narayaa [jangama-narayaa]."PURPORTThis is the viewpoint of Mayavada philosophy. Mayavada philosophy supportsthe impersonalist view that Narayal)a, the Supreme Personality of Godhead, hasno form. One can imagine impersonal Brahman in any form-as ViI)U, Lord Siva,Vivasvan, Gal)esa or Devi Durga. According to the Mayavada philosophy, whenone becomes a sannyasi, he is to be considered a moving Narayal)a. Mayavadaphilosophy holds that the real Narayal)a does not move because, being impersonal,He has no legs. Thus according to Mayavada philosophy, whoever becomesa sannyasi declares himself Narayal)a. Foolish people accept such ordinaryhuman beings as the Supreme Personality of Godhead. This is called vivarta-vada.In this regard, Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati Thakura comments that jarigamanarayaQameans that the impersonal Brahman takes a shape and moves here andthere in the form of a Mayavadi sannyasi. The Mayavada philosophy confirms this.DaQ(ia-grahaQa-matreQa naro narayaQo bhavet: "Simply by accepting the daQ(iaof the order of sannyasa, one is immediately transformed into Narayal)a."Therefore Mayavadi sannyasis address themselves by saying, om nama narayaQaya. In this way one Narayal)a worships another Narayal)a.Actually an ordinary human being cannot become Narayal)a. Even the chiefMayavadi sannyasi, Sri Sarikaracarya, says, narayaQa/:1 paro 'vyaktat: "Narayal)a isnot a creation of this material world. Narayal)a is above the material creation."Due to their poor fund of knowledge, Mayavadi sannyasis think that Narayal)a,the Absolute Truth, takes birth as a human being and that when He realizes this,He becomes Narayal)a again. They never consider why Narayal)a, the SupremePersonality of Godhead, accepts an inferior position as a human being and thenagain becomes Narayal)a when He is perfect. Why should Narayal)a be imperfect? Why should He appear as a human being? Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu verynicely explained these points while at Vrndavana.TEXT 110t "fj '1_f1f ·
