<strong>Premixed</strong><strong>Patch</strong> & <strong>Level</strong>DESCRIPTION<strong>Premixed</strong> <strong>Patch</strong> & <strong>Level</strong> is a self-curing, polymer-modified, premixed patchingcompound that has a gray appearance.USESUse for smoothing, patching and filling cracks, holes, voids and depressions inconcrete and approved wood underlayment before the installation of ceramic tileand stone from featheredge to 1/2" (12 mm).RECOMMENDED SUBSTRATES• Fully cured concrete (28 days)• Masonry block walls• Cement mortar beds and leveling coats• Cementitious backer units (CBUs) – see manufacturer for recommendations• Properly prepared vinyl composition tile (VCT) and noncushioned sheetgoods (vinyl or urethane wear layers)• Any wood underlayment that is recommended or guaranteed by either thewood manufacturer or the floor-covering manufacturer• For installation over exterior-grade plywood for interior residential floorsand countertops in dry areas only. Floor systems – including the framingsystem and subfloor/overlay panels – over which tile will be installedshould be in conformance with industry standards with no deflection (flex)or movement.Consult MAPEI’s Technical Services Department for installation recommendationsregarding substrates and conditions not listed.TECHNICAL NOTES• For interior use only• Not for use in wet areas• Do not apply over wood planking, presswood, flakeboard, particleboard,chipboard, oriented strand board (OSB), pressure-treated or oil-treatedplywood, Masonite, Lauan, gypsum floor-patching or gypsum levelingcompounds, laminate surfaces, fiberglass surfaces, poured epoxy floors,cutback adhesive residue, self-stick tile, metal or dimensionally unstablesubstrates.• Do not apply directly over gypsum-based substrates.• Do not use as a wear layer.• Do not use as a self leveler. Instead, use Novoplan ® 2 or Ultraplan ® Easy(see respective Technical Data Sheet for details).• Use only when the substrate temperature is between 50°F and 95°F (10°Cand 35°C).

Surface Preparation1.1 All substrates must be structurally sound,solid, well-fastened, dry, clean and free ofdust, oil, grease, tar, paint, wax, curing agents,primers, sealers and any substance that mayprevent or reduce adhesion.1.2 Existing floor covering must be limited toone layer and be firmly bonded to substrate.Remove any oils, grease, dirt, waxes orcoatings with a stripping solution. Rinse withclean water and allow to dry. Existing floorcovering must be limited to one layer and befirmly bonded to substrate. Remove any oils,grease, dirt, waxes or coatings with a strippingsolution. Roughen surface of new floors orthose with urethane wear layers to a dull finish.Rinse with clean water and allow to dry.1.3 Roughen surface of new floors or those withurethane wear layers to dull finish.1.4 To allow an adequate bond with glazed ceramictile, abrade the surface using a belt sander setat a low speed.For details, see MAPEI’s “Surface PreparationRequirements” document for tile and stoneinstallation systems.2. Mixing<strong>Premixed</strong> <strong>Patch</strong> & <strong>Level</strong> is ready to use. No mixingis required.3. Application3.1 Apply the compound to the substrate using aflat-edge steel trowel, finishing the surface tothe required smoothness.3.2 Apply no more than 1/4" (6 mm) in thicknessper application to a maximum thickness of1/2" (12 mm). Allow 6 to 12 hours betweenapplications3.3 Protect from excessive heat or draftyconditions during the curing period.3.4 When fresh, <strong>Premixed</strong> <strong>Patch</strong> & <strong>Level</strong> is easilyremoved from hands and tools with water.If allowed to set and harden, it can only beremoved through mechanical abrasion.3.5 <strong>Premixed</strong> <strong>Patch</strong> & <strong>Level</strong> must be completelydry (about 16 to 24 hours) before any adhesiveor flooring materials are applied.4. Expansion and Control Joints4.1 Provide for expansion and control joints asspecified per TCNA Detail EJ171 or TTMACSpecification Guide 09300 Detail 301EJ.4.2 Do not cover any substrate expansion joint orcontrol joints with mortar or tiles.5. Protection5.1 Protect containers from freezing in transit andstorage.5.2 Provide for dry, heated storage on site anddeliver materials at least 24 hours beforetilework begins.NOTICEBefore using, user shall determine thesuitability of the product for its intendeduse and user alone assumes all risks andliability whatsoever in connection therewith.
