42Commission suggested that the Bar Council of India should accept and actin accordance with the decisions of the Legal Education Committee of theBar Council of India. It is very gratifying to note that in the letter of theBar Council of India dated 3.8.2000, the Bar Council of India has agreed toimplement the recommendation of its Legal Education Committee withoutraising any objections. In the said letter dated 3.8.2000, the Bar Council ofIndia has further explained the various matters in regard to which the LegalEducation Committee could give its views. This is a very happy auguryand obviates the introduction of any provision like sec. 20 of the MedicalCouncil Act, 1956 which requires that in the event of any differencebetween the Committee of the Medical Council and the Medical Council ofIndia, the matter will be referred to the Central Government. The proposalof the Bar Council of India in its letter dated 3.8.2000 is that sec. 7(1)(h)should read as follows:“to lay down standards of professional legal education in accordancewith the recommendations of the Legal Education Committee of theBar Council of India, which, inter alia, includes curriculum, teachingmethods, examination, admission of students, number of teachers, location and infrastructure requirements, and management inconsultation with…”4.9 There can be no objection to this proposal. Therefore, the views ofthe Legal Education Committee of the Bar Council are to be implementedby the Bar Council of India, – without demur.
