Meeting Minutes - Paxtonia PTA February 7, 2011Call to OrderPresident Gayle Staub called the meeting to order at 7:05pmReading and Approval of MinutesDecember 2010 Minutes were approved as is . For the January 2011 Minutes, there was achange in the Treasurer’s report section where instead of stating that a check was receivedit should be mentioned as money earned from the Giant A+ program. A motion was madeby Amy Lingle and seconded by Karen Parody for the change. Other than that , theJanuary 2011 Minutes were approved as is.Treasurer’s ReportThere is no information about Dad and Donuts invoice yet. For Box Top, we did get acheck for about $1018/-. For Caprisun , we got two o checks totalling $134.82 .Treasurer’s report was approved as is.Correspondence : No Correspondence.Committee ReportsBingo-Over 400 people were in attendance for both the Bingo nights and the expenses came($98.55 ) under budget. Many thanks to the following Bingo sponsors: Hershey, Avon –Deb Rose, Olivia’s Tea Room and ABC Bowling. Looking for someone to take over theBingo committee next year. It is very easy to do as everything is explained in the binder.Anyone needing further information on this committee. please contact Amy Lingle orKaren Parody.Friendship Center Night – Friendship Center Night is on March 27 th . Come out withyour family and friends and enjoy the Paxtonia fun night. More updates for the FriendshipCenter night and all the information relating to it will be sent home by next week or so.Historian/Yearbook -Ice Skating Party- Ice Skating Party went very well. There was a $1 charge forAdmission , so the committee made around $200.00. Roller Skating party is coming upon March 6 th .

International Days - Amy Gabriel and Jackie Brown have finalized all the informationregarding International days and the flyers will be going home next week. There will betwo different flyers, one for the parents with detailed information and another one FactSheet for teachers. There will be aone page instruction sheet on how to make ItalianMosaics. Each class room gets the Venetian Masks. Few web sites will be suggested tothe teachers to use during computer classes . Looking for volunteers for decorationswhich will be put up on April 1 st , 4 th & 5 th between 4.00 pm – 9.00 PM . If anybody hasany Italian items and they would want to share with the school, please drop them off atthe time when the decorations ar put up and it will be displayed in the showcase in thelobby. Volunteers are required for the 3 days fo activities during the International days.On April 6 th there will be an Assembly / Concert along with the Italian National Antham.On April 7 th there will be a classroom presentation by Marcella Canfarotto, an Italianstudies professor at Temple University. April 8 th will be food tasting day, showingItalian colors . Also there will be a performance by Philadelphia Accordion player JoeSoprani during lunch.Talent Show-Mrs. Wise mentioned that due to the massive participation this year , hey decided to splitthe Talent Show and rehearsals over two days. Talent Show rehearsals will be on Feb 21 st& 22 nd . Dress rehearsal will be on Feb 28 th & March 1 st . Talent show will be held onMarch 2 nd & 3 rd .May Fair - No reportPTA Honorary Life Membership : Currently the committee is accepting the nominationsfor the PTA Honorary Pennsylvania State Life Membership Award. It is also mentioned inthe Contact Newsletter.Scholarship – The committee is accepting the Scholarship applications.Science Night- There will be around 13 or 14 exhibits. Volunteers are needed at theregistration table and at tables for performing experiments.Fund Raiser : All the details relating to the sub sale are finalized. The sale is divided in totwo groups - K-2 nd grade and 3 rd -5 th grade. The delivery pick up will be at Charlstonchurch. K-2 students will have two weeks for sale and 3 – 5 grade will have three weeksfor the sale. As a incentive , May fair tickets are being given. The target for thisfundraiser is $6000.00 .

Karns : Karn’s number went down from 700 to 550. In the process of getting someanswers from Karns on the above fall in numbers.Unfinished Business :New Business : Mrs. Coates mentioned that kids are doing good progress. PSSAtesting will be held during next month. Mrs. Ross thanked the PTA for the lunchesprovided to the teachers during the conferences.Meeting Rewards-For meeting attendance, Nicole Erb received a Almond Chocolate Bar as a reward.Meeting was adjourned at 7:30 pm
