Set the SYNOPSYS_SIM variable to point to the Scirocco installation directory asfollows:% setenv SYNOPSYS_SIM Scirocco_installation_directory3. If you need to keep separateauthorization files for different products, use a colon-separated list (UNIX).CautionDo not include la_dmon-based authorizations in the same file with snpslmdbasedauthorizations. If you have authorizations that use la_dmon, keepthem in a separate license file that uses a different license server (lmgrd)process than the one you use for snpslmd-based authorizations.5. If you are using the hardware modeler, set the LM_DIR and LM_LIB environmentvariables, as shown in the following examples:% setenv LM_DIR hardware_model_install_path/sms/lm_dir% setenv LM_LIB hardware_model_install_path/sms/models: \hardware_model_install_path/sms/mapsIf you put your models in a directory other than the default of /sms/models, modifythe above variable setting accordingly.Running 32-bit Models on 64-bit PlatformsIf you want to run 32-bit Synopsys models or tools on a 64-bit HP-UX or Solarisplatform, set the LMC_USE_32BIT environment variable to any value before invokingthe tool, as shown in the following example:% setenv LMC_USE_32BIT 1The LMC_USE_32BIT environmental variable is a “set/no-set” variable. That is, youcan set it to any value (even zero) to turn on 32-bit support on a 64-bit platform. If youdo not set it at all, the default condition is 32-bit models on 32-bit platforms, or 64-bitmodels on 64-bit platforms. You only set this environmental variable (to any value)when you are on a 64-bit platform using 32-bit models and simulators.192 Synopsys, Inc. October 6, 2003
Simulator Configuration GuideChapter 8: Using Scirocco with Synopsys ModelsUsing SmartModels with SciroccoTo use SmartModels with Scirocco, follow this procedure:1. Make sure Scirocco is set up properly and all required environment variables areset, as explained in “Setting Environment Variables” on page 191.2. To create SmartModel VHDL templates, check to see if you have write permissionfor $LMC_HOME/synopsys/smartmodel; if so skip to Step 5. Otherwise, open thesynopsys_sim.setup file in your current working directory and search for the stringSMARTMODEL. By default, the logical library name SMARTMODEL is mappedto $LMC_HOME/synopsys/smartmodel, as follows:SMARTMODEL : $LMC_HOME/synopsys/smartmodel3. Change the directory to one where you have write permissions, as shown in thefollowing example:SMARTMODEL : ~/smartmodel4. Generate a VHDL model wrapper file for the model by invokingcreate_smartmodel_lib with any optional arguments. For complete information onthe syntax for this command, refer to “create_smartmodel_lib CommandReference” on page 194.% $SYNOPSYS_SIM/sim/bin/create_smartmodel_lib arguments5. If you changed the SMARTMODEL mapping in Step 3, you must use the -srcdiroption to specify that directory. Also, you can save time by using the -model or-modelfile option to specify the models you want. Otherwise, the script processes allinstalled SmartModels. For example, here is a recommended set of options to usefor one SmartModel (ttl00 in this example):% $SYNOPSYS_SIM/sim/bin/create_smartmodel_lib -model ttl00 \-srcdir ~/smartmodel6. After create_smartmodel_lib finishes executing, verify that the VHDL templatefiles were created in the appropriate directory.7. To use SmartModels in the VHDL source file of your design, specify theSMARTMODEL library and instantiate each SmartModel component. In the VHDLdesign file that uses SmartModel components, enter the following library and useclauses:library SMARTMODEL;use SMARTMODEL.components.allThe library logical name SMARTMODEL must be mapped to appropriatedirectories in your synopsys_sim.setup file.October 6, 2003 Synopsys, Inc. 193
