Simulator Configuration GuideChapter 7: Using QuickSim II with Synopsys ModelsRenaming InstancesUse the ADD SYNONYM command to rename instances with easier-to-remembersubstitute names. For example, to rename a model for an MC68851 with an instancename of “I$289” to an easier-to-remember name such as “PMMU,” use the followingcommand:ADD SYNONYM 'PMMU' I$289Once you add a synonym you can use it in place of the original instance name incommands. For example, the following command lists the MC68851 translation controlregister.ADD LISTS HEX PMMU/TCCombining Register ElementsYou can use the ADD BUS command to combine meaningful 1-bit elements of a PLDinto a single bus that can be viewed or changed after the PLD has been programmed. This saves effort compared to dealing with each 1-bit element one at a time. Table 18shows the elements of a sample device, the Texas Instruments TIBPAL22V10. Allwindow elements for this example are 1-bit wide with read and write access.Table 18: Elements in a TIBPAL22V10 DeviceElementDescriptionQ23 PAL Internal Register connected to pin 23Q22 PAL Internal Register connected to pin 22Q21 PAL Internal Register connected to pin 21Q20 PAL Internal Register connected to pin 20Q19 PAL Internal Register connected to pin 19Q18 PAL Internal Register connected to pin 18Q17 PAL Internal Register connected to pin 17Q16 PAL Internal Register connected to pin 16Q15 PAL Internal Register connected to pin 15Q14 PAL Internal Register connected to pin 14October 6, 2003 Synopsys, Inc. 143
