w 124may produce in this way ten <strong>to</strong> twelve generations of kalŒpas, butwith the assistance of special food such as the ojŒ of devas (divinenutritive essence) this process can continue for a long period of time.<strong>The</strong> utuja ojŒ aÊÊhamaka kalŒpas produced in this way also containojŒ and with assistance form ŒhŒraja ojŒ they can produce manygenerations of ŒhŒraja ojŒ aÊÊhamaka inside the body.Method Of Seeing îhŒraja Rèpa<strong>The</strong> visuddhimagga states: In the case of the four, namely,gorge, faeces, pus, and urine, which are originated by temperature,eight types of rèpa occur in the ojŒ aÊÊhamaka kalŒpas producedonly by temperature. (vsm. XVIII, 6)This shows that these four parts of the body consist of ojŒaÊÊhamaka kalŒpas that are produced from temperature (utu) only.<strong>The</strong>refore when newly eaten food is still inside the s<strong>to</strong>mach it consistsof only utuja ojŒ aÊÊhamaka kalŒpas. With the assistance of thefire element in the j´vita navaka kalŒpas which make up digestiveheat, which is kammically produced, the ojŒ in these utuja ojŒaÊÊhamaka kalŒpas can produce many generations of ojŒ aÊÊhamakakalŒpas. <strong>The</strong>se are rèpas produced by nutriment (ŒhŒraja), and canspread throughout the six sense bases. Nutriment taken on one daycan produce ŒhŒraja ojŒ aÊÊhamaka kalŒpas for up <strong>to</strong> seven dayswhile divine nutritive essence can do this for even one or two months.<strong>The</strong> nutriment taken on one day also gives support for the next sevendays <strong>to</strong> the ojŒ in kammaja, cittaja, and utuja kalŒpas.In order <strong>to</strong> see these things you can meditate at the time of eating.<strong>The</strong> ŒhŒraja rèpas can be seen spreading throughout the bodybeginning from the mouth, throat, s<strong>to</strong>mach, and intestines. Discernthe four elements in the new food in the mouth, throat, s<strong>to</strong>mach,and intestines, and you will see the rèpa kalŒpas there.
