The Champion • Wednesday 27 June 2012SFVisit us @ www.ChampNews.com • 15Help us to winlottery backing,urge firefightersReport by David RavenCHAMPION readers have been called on tovote for a Lottery funded initiative that givesfire safety advice to local youngsters.Fire Fit Families is run by Merseyside Fire andRescue service to give advice to Seftonyoungsters on what to do in case of a fireemergency.The initiative, which uses an inflatable assaultcourse to simulate a real life fire situation, isaimed at getting people fitter and educatingthem on what to do in case of an emergency.It has reached the semi–finals of The NationalLottery Awards for 2012.Essie Li, project leader for Fire Fit Families,said: “An inflatable assault course is used byour staff as part of their work withcommunities to highlight fire safety.“It is the only initiative of its kind in the wholeof the UK. Team work has made it such asuccess and I have had tremendous supportacross Merseyside Fire & Rescue Service andfrom partner organisations.
