Mothers and their children receive their Well Child screening from a Well Childcontractor and their immunisations and health care from their General Practitioner.After the age of five years there are no more core health milestones until adulthood.All projects listed below currently operate in isolation from each other. Where a programme isoperating in all areas of the region, delivery methods and business models are specific to DistrictHealth Board, PHO or individual contractor. There is no evidence to suggest that the region lacks theskills to deliver a coordinated service but the service is far from coordinated or patient centred inits approach.• Going Home (Newborn transition).• Newborn Hearing Screening and Antenatal HIV Screening.• Immunisations.• Well Child Checks.• B4 School Very Important Project (including Vision & Hearing Screening).• Yr 9 HEADSS Assessment.• Public Health Nurse in Primary Schools.• Clinics in Secondary Schools.• One stop Youth Shops in high risk areas.Currently Primary Care in Midlands uses a sick child approach, seeing themselves as having two keyfunctions - treating a sick child and achieving immunisation milestones.74
