Flotrac ® MetersFeaturesAll construction materials used in the Flotrac Meter areresistant to corrosion and abrasion, and only one moving partin the meter—the rotor—comes in contact with the processfluid. The rotor assembly, comprised of bearings and anintegral magnet, can be quickly removed or replaced withoutremoving the meter from the line. The register assembly ismagnetically coupled to the rotor assembly, eliminating frictionand leakage from packing glands.Flotrac Models 306 and 380 share several interchangeableparts, enabling the user to easily convert a “standard flow”306 meter to a “low flow” 380 meter and visa versa.Similar to a PD meter, the Flotrac meter does not require theinstallation of straight-run pipe upstream or downstream ofthe meter.Like positive displacement meters, the Flotrac Meter isdesigned for mechanically measuring volumes of low-viscosityliquids flowing at high pressure. The Flotrac Meter employs theunique “constrained vortex” principle to provide an accuratemeasurement over a 10:1 range.Process liquid enters the metering chamber through the 1-in.(25-mm) inlet connection. As the liquid makes a 360-degreeloop, it is separated equally into two streams. The specialconfiguration of the metering chamber forces these streamsinto a series of vortices, causing the rotor assembly to rotate indirect proportion to the flow rate. The two liquid streams arethen combined at the meter outlet port.ConstructionThe Flotrac Meter body is constructed of SA-216 WCB epoxycoatedcast steel with an SA-105 forged steel cover. Theimpeller and housing inserts are made of glass-filled Ryton ® ,which is practically impervious to dissolved salts and alkalis, water, most acids, and low-viscosity hydrocarbon liquids. Otherwetted parts include 300 series stainless steel and a Buna-Nbody seal O-ring. The assembly is suitable for “sour” non-NACE service when the non-wetted body bolts are supplied asoptional grade L7M and the body O-ring is supplied in Viton ® .The rotor bearings and journals are made of special materialsthat provide exceptional service life with water or nonlubricatingliquids. The register assembly features a sealedweatherproof aluminum case. The meter is compliant withASME B31.1 & B31.3 requirements.SpecificationsOperating PressureOperating TemperatureViscosityPipe ConnectionsRegisterWeightDimensions2500 psig (172 bar) SWP withstandard bolting1500 psig (103 bar) SWP withL7M NACE bolting+32°F (0°C) to +200°F (+95°C)10 centistokes, max.1-in. MEASUREMENT SYSTEMSFloco ® Series-F Meters Models F500/F2500The Floco Series F Meter is a positive displacement meterwith a unique rotor design that provides sustained accuracyeven under adverse conditions. It accurately measuresviscous, waxy, corrosive and abrasive liquids to within ±1%maximum accuracy. The Series F Meter measures liquid by separating it into equalportions and counting them. Liquid enters the meter throughthe inlet port, where the bridge deflects the liquid downwardto strike the rotor blades and turn the rotor. The liquid thenpasses through the outlet port, which is aligned with the inletport. The unique rotor design allows solid particles andsediment to pass through the meter without causing damageor malfunction. Bridge seals prevent the liquid from passingto the outlet port without being measured.Floco meters are unique in that the more viscous the processfluid, the better the meter performance. High viscosities allowthe meter to measure low flow rates with improved accuracy.Series F Meters are available in various models with pressureratings up to 2000 psi (138 bar), an operating temperaturerange of -20°F (-29°C) to +400°F (+205°C), and a flow ratecapacity of 6 to 90 USGPM based on 20° API gravity oil.Standard connections include 1-in. female and 2-in. or 3-in.male NPT threads. Raised face and ring joint flanges can alsobe supplied. Standard units for registering totals are USgallons, 42-gallon barrels, liters, or cubic meters.Series F Meters are available with Buna-N, Viton ® , or Teflon ®components for compliance with process demands, and along life between maintenance cycles.ApplicationA wide variety of liquids can be metered with the Series Fmeter, including heavy oil (25,000 centistokes max), asphaltemulsion, brine, bunker C oil, crude oil, kerosene, liquidfertilizers, paraffin, refined oils, and water. The Series F Meter does not require the installation of straightrunpipe upstream or downstream of the meter. The meter canbe installed in any position and the register can be rotated intwo planes for optimal visibility.ConstructionThe Series F Meterconsists of fourbasic parts: body, rotor, sideplates, and register (withgear case assembly andmagnetic coupling seal).Almost all spare parts areinterchangeable amongSeries F models.Body and SideplatesThe meter body is A216 WCBcast steel with a maximum hardness of HRC22.The sideplates are A105 forged steel. The number and typeof sideplate bolts determines the safe working pressure ofthe meter, as shown in the table below. All meters arecompliant with ASME B31.1 & B31.3 requirements. Whenequipped with NACE bolts, Series F meters are compliantwith NACE MR0175 / ISO 15156: 2003 revision. All meterssupplied with flanged end connections utilize slip-on flangesas standard. Optional weldneck flanges for B31.1 complianceare available. All flanged connections are welded per ASMESection IX procedures.Liner and WearplatesBody parts subject to mechanical wear or fluid abrasion aredesigned for economical field replacement. The body liner andside wearplates are constructed of polished 316 stainless steelto assure a low-friction seal with the rotor blades. Wearplatesare reversible for extended life.Bridge and Bridge SealsThe bridge is available in either Delrin® or 316 stainlesssteel. Delrin ® is a plastic material that can withstand chemicalattack and temperatures to 180°F (82°C). Alternatively,316 stainless steel is extremely resistant to abrasive and hightemperaturefluids.Safe Working PressureModel Number of Bolts Bolt Bolt Safe Working Pressureper Sideplate Diameter Grade (psi) (Mpa)F-500 4 3/8 in.
