WELCOMETO OUR ADOPTION AWARENESS TOURIThe adoption project staff would like to take this opportunity to thank you for the timeyou have allowed us today.Our objective is to sensitize community leaders to the problems of special needs childrenseeking adoptive homes.Did you know that it costs more to keep a child in state-funded foster care than to placea child for adoption with state financial subsidy?Do you believe that foster and adoptive families currently get sufficient financial andother supports to adequately parent a child with special needs?These are just a sample of the issues and questions that we will address today. Most ofthe information contained in your tour packet will be addressed today. There is other informationincluded that we would like for you to read at your convenience. Our hope isthat each of you will take back what you have learned today and put it to use in your community.Focusing on children's needs today means more productive citizens for the future andfewer monies spent for our state in the long run.
