DATA-VIEW & DATA-EDIT User Manual2.6 Viewing data in ChartsThe viewing functionality offers the possibility to view selected data by way of achart. This is done by selecting the Chart option from the View Menu or the[Category (chart)] or [Series (chart)] from the axis list next to the dimension.This automatically positions the selected dimension elements on the axis: bydefault the Geo level on the category-axis and the parameter on the series-axis.However, since the area of showing data in the chart is limited, usually only apart of the data will be directly visible (depending on the number of selectedelements and the zoom level in the chart). An accommodations chart example isgiven in Figure 2-14.Figure 2-14: Chart view of Accommodations FacilitiesThe chart tool supports zooming in / out on the chart by scrolling the mousewheel up / down when over the chart. When not all data is shown, the chart canalso be moved up or down by left clicking on the chart and holding the mousedown while moving. It is nonetheless important to limit the selection of thedimension elements to get a useful graph since too much data will easily resultin an unusable chart.Please note that for the series axis for the chart the number of elements it cancontain is limited to 20, so trying to select a dimension with more than 20selected elements on the series axis will result in an error.For the visualization three types of charts are available: Clustered: each dimension element value is shown as a separate bar; Stacked: the dimension element values are grouped together as absolutevalues in one bar; 100%: the dimension element values are grouped together as relativepercentage values in one bar.August 22, 2012 17
