Over the years, the unit has evolved from a focus on the needs ofrural families to a program that helps to meet the demands of today's contemporarysociety.MissionThe mission of this division is to improve the quality of lifefor individuals and theirfamilies. Students prepare for professional careers in each of the five program areas:Child Development and Family Studies; Home Economics Education; Human Nutritionand Foods, including Dietetics and Restaurant/Food Service Management; InteriorDesign and Housing; and Textiles, Clothing, and Fashion Merchandising. Careersavailable to graduates are many and varied. Each program area advises students oncurrent market conditions and employment opportunities.Division of Family Resources 61
