Concentrates onprinciples of psychology that can be applied to improving relations with others as wellas being a more effective leader. Pragmatic orientation includes using the principles tosolve problems in relationships, in small organizations, and in large systems.131 . Organismic Factors in Psychology. I, II. 3 hr. PR: Psych. 1 , 2. An introduction tothe biological factors participating in psychological events including consideration ofmorphology, physiology, maturation, and evolution. Interdisciplinary studies such asbehavioral genetics and ethology will also be covered.141 . Introduction to Human Development. I, II, S. 3 hr. PR: Psych. 1. Survey of humandevelopment across the life span with an emphasis on change in physical, cognitive,and social-emotional processes. Applied problem solving by use of developmentalinformation provides experience for service related professions such as social work,nursing, guidance, and counseling.151 . Introduction to Social Psychology. I, II, S. 3 hr. PR: Psych. 1 . Social factors whichdetermine human behavior. Relationships of class, race, culture, social structure, andother group phenomena to individual behavior.164. Personal and Social Ac^'ustment. I, II, S. 3 hr. PR: Psych. 1 . Applications ofmaterial from personality, abnormal, clinical, and social psychology to the problems ofachieving positive personality change.170. Sex Roles and Behavior. I, II, S. 3 hr. PR: Psych. 1. Relates sex- typed behaviorto physiological, social, and cultural processes. Current social concerns such as rapeand abortion legislation, child care, and expanded career options for both sexes areexamined from a psychological perspective.1 71 Behavior Principles. I, II. 4 hr. PR: Psych. 1 . Introductory survey of principles ofbehavior and learning and the significance of these principles for psychological theoryand applications. Includes laboratory exercises and demonstrations.190. Teaching Practicum. I, II, S. 1-3 hr. PR: Consent. (No more than 3 hours ofPsych. 190 may be counted toward the 42 hours of psychology to which Psychologymajors are limited.) Individually supervised experience in teaching, tutoring, and/orclassroom management projects.191 Special Topics in Psychology. I or II. 1-3 hr. PR: Consent. Contemporary topics inpsychology considered at an intermediate level for both psychology majors and majorsin other areas.194. Field Experience in Psychology. I, II, S. 1-15 hr. PR: Consent. (No more than 15hours of Psych. 194 may be counted toward the 128 hours required for the B.A.degree.) Individually supervised experience in the applications of psychologicalprinciples and techniques. Psychology majors have the option of including orexcluding hours earned in Psych. 194 in the 42 hours of psychology to whichPsychology majors are limited. The off-campus semester is offered for 15 hours ofcredit in this course during the first and second semesters and for 1 2 hours of creditduring the summer.
