Admissions are competitive and are based on the cumulative and scienceacademic grade-point averages achieved in all prior college courses, recommendationsdescribing academic performance, results of the Pharmacy College AdmissionsTest (PCAT), and a personal interview which may be required. A required course inwhich a grade of D was received must be repeated with a grade of C or better beforeacceptance can be granted by the School of Pharmacy Committee on Admissions.While outstanding, nonresident applicants are considered, priority in admission isgiven to qualified <strong>West</strong> <strong>Virginia</strong>ns.Applicants should write to the Office of Admissions and Records, WVU HealthSciences Center, Morgantown, WV 26506, for official application forms, which areavailable after January 1 of each year and which should be returned to that office byApril 1 preceding the fall term (first semester) in which the student seeks enrollment.Formal applications received after April 1 are considered only when vacancies exist. A$10.00 application fee must accompany the application.Each applicant who is recommended for acceptance must deposit $75.00 beforeacceptance is official. If the applicant enrolls, this sum is applied to the first-semestertuition. If the applicant fails to enroll, this deposit is forfeited. Before enrollment in theSchool of Pharmacy, all students must complete all immunizations and diagnosticprocedures required by the <strong>West</strong> <strong>Virginia</strong> Board of Trustees, <strong>West</strong> <strong>Virginia</strong> <strong>University</strong>,the <strong>West</strong> <strong>Virginia</strong> <strong>University</strong> Health Sciences Center, and/or the School of Pharmacy.Completion of the Pharmacy College Admission Test is a requirement foradmission. It is strongly recommended that the student take the test in the fall beforemaking application for admission. Information concerning time and place of the testcan be obtained from a pre-pharmacy advisor, the School of Pharmacy, or by writing:Pharmacy College Admission Test, The Psychological Corporation, 555 AcademicCourt, San Antonio, TX 78204.The Committee on Admissions may require a personal interview with applicantsas it deems it appropriate. Interviews are held at the WVU Health Sciences Center andwill be arranged insofar as possible to suit the convenience of the applicant. Interviewsare scheduled during February, March, and April. In general, only applicants with acumulative and science grade-point average of 2.5 or above may be called for aninterview. Applicants with a cumulative or science grade-point average below 2.5 aregenerally not considered for admission.Three academic recommendations are required, although more may be submitted.At least two of these recommendations must be provided by course instructors inany two of the three pre-pharmacy science areas: biology, chemistry, and physics. Thethird recommendation may be provided by a course instructor of the student's choice.Admission to Advanced StandingStudents from other accredited schools of pharmacy may be admitted if spaceis available and they meet the course requirements of the WVU School of Pharmacy,have a 2.5 grade-point average, and are eligible for readmission for the degree inpharmacy in the school previously attended.
