—Admissions Transfer Students to Basic ProgramsA student with nursing credit from an accredited college or university is eligible foradmission by presenting a record of courses comparable to those required in thiscurriculum and meeting other School of Nursing admission requirements. Applicationfor transfer students should be initiated three months prior to the beginning of thesemester in which they wish to begin nursing courses.Transcripts and other required materials must be received no later than twomonths before the start of the entering semester. Apply to: Assistant to Director ofAdmissions and Records, WVU Health Sciences Center, Morgantown, WV 26506specifying request for admission as a transfer student.Program for Registered Nurse StudentsThe School of Nursing offers graduates of diploma and associate degree nursingprograms the opportunity to complete requirements for the baccalaureate degree innursing at the Morgantown campus, at the Charleston Division of the WVU HealthSciences Center, and by extension at Parkersburg and Beckley. General educationcredits earned in any accredited college or university may be applied toward thefulfillment of the degree requirements, if the course work is comparable. The continuedoffering of nursing courses at the various extension sites is dependent upon facultyresources and a minimum enrollment of 15 students in each nursing course.Registered Nurse (R.N.) applicants are admitted directly to the School of Nursing.Acceptance and placement in the program is dependent upon the individual's academicrecord and upon the number of spaces available in the program. The license topractice nursing and a grade-point average of 2.5, or better, on all college workattempted are required. Registered nurses whose grade-point average falls below 2.5may petition in writing to the Committee on Admissions for special consideration. Alicense to practice nursing as an R.N. in <strong>West</strong> <strong>Virginia</strong> is required for enrollment in allclinical nursing courses.Requests for application forms for the Morgantown campus or extension sitesshould be addressed to the Assistant Director of Admissions and Records, WVUHealth Sciences Center, Morgantown, WV 26506.Application forms for the Charleston Division or Beckley extension site may beobtained from the Student Affairs Coordinator, Charleston Division, WVU HealthSciences Center, 31 10 MacCorkle Ave., S.E., Charleston, WV 25304.
