Students who wish to substitute acourse for one of those listed should contact the Division of Physical Therapy forpermission and provide a written description of the proposed substitute.Applicants must have a minimum GPA of 2.75 in the pre-physical therapy courseswith at least a grade of C in each course, and a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.6 in allcollege courses. All applicants must have completed the Allied Health ProfessionsAdmission Test, submit ACT or SAT scores, and submit two letters of recommendationfrom physical therapists (not relatives) with whom they have worked in clinical settings.A minimum of 80 hours of clinical volunteer or work experience is recommended. It issuggested that this experience be in at least two different settings.Preference is given to West Virginia residents; non-residents who have attended aWest Virginia college or university, or who have other ties to the state, may also beconsidered.Applicants who complete any of their pre-requisite courses at a college oruniversity outside of West Virginia must submit a catalog or photocopy of the catalogdescription for all pre-requisite courses taken.Application forms are available beginning December 1 from the Office of Admissionand Records, WVU Health Sciences Center, Morgantown, WV 26506.Morgantown, WV 26506. All application materials must be received from the applicantno later than March 1. Qualified applicants are interviewed by the Physical TherapyAdmissions Committee. Those considered to demonstrate the greatest potential forsuccess are recommended for admission into the program. A student who does notmeet all application requirements, but who believes extenuating circumstances justifyconsideration, may petition the Committee for an interview.Graduation RequirementsStudents admitted into the program must complete all required courses of eachterm with a grade of at least C or P in each, and must maintain a minimum GPA of 2.5each term. Any student who does not meet these requirements may be placed onprobation, suspended, or dismissed from the program. The Division of PhysicalTherapy reserves the right to suspend or dismiss any student who does not perform atan overall level considered satisfactory for patient care.In the second semester of the junior year, the student will spend one day eachweek for ten weeks in a clinical setting under the supervision of a physical therapist.262 School of Medicine
