Grade Averages and Test ScoresThe grades that you earn in high school, your grade-point average at graduation, and the scores that you receive on comprehensive tests are the major factors used todetermine your admission to WVU. We do not decide to admit anyone until we seeACT (American College Testing) or SAT (Scholastic Aptitude Test) scores. As a high school graduate from West Virginia, you are eligible for admission if youhave a 2.0 grade-point average and either a composite enhanced ACT score of 1 9 ora total SAT score of 720. If you live in another state, you are eligible for admission ifyou have a 2.25 overall grade-point average and either an enhanced ACT compositescore of 20 or a total SAT score of 800. Normally, if you have the credit requirements, the grade-point average, and the test score, you are admitted without question if spaceis available. As space becomes limited, the better qualified applicants receive firstconsideration. If you have a lower average or a lower test score (but not lower forboth), the Admissions Review Committee reviews your application. You may beassured that each application is reviewed individually and given consideration.GEDIfyou earned a General Education Development (GED) diploma less than fiveyears before your admission request, you must present ACT or SAT scores with yourapplication, must complete course requirements, and must provide a copy of your highschool transcript.
