Since that time, the College of Businessand Economics has become one of the largest colleges at <strong>West</strong> <strong>Virginia</strong> <strong>University</strong>. In1 954, the College became fully accredited by the American Assembly of CollegiateSchools of Business, the highest level of business accreditation.In1990, the new College of Business and Economics building was completed onthe site of Old Mountaineer Stadium on the downtown campus adjacent to historicWoodburn Circle. The new four-story facility houses modern classrooms, two auditoriums,state-of-the-art computer laboratories, and space for the College's research andservice centers.MissionAs part of <strong>West</strong> <strong>Virginia</strong> <strong>University</strong>, the state's comprehensive land-grant university,the College of Business and Economics has a special responsibility to the citizensof the state to: (1) provide high-quality undergraduate and graduate professionaleducation, (2) take a leadership role in scholarly and applied research, and (3) supportextension, continuing education, economic development, and other public serviceactivities. The College of Business and Economics is committed to active involvementin economic development and community relations at both the local and state levels.The College of Business and Economics offers quality professional programs forundergraduate and graduate students. The College does so by developing andmaintaining up-to-date programs, by recruiting outstanding students, serving theircourse needs, and meeting or exceeding standards of excellence set by the AmericanAssembly of Collegiate Schools of Business.
