<strong>French</strong> IThroughout the text of <strong>French</strong> I, students accompany fictional charactersIsabelle and David, two Americans who are going to be studying <strong>French</strong> in an"Academic Year Abroad" in France. They will be staying with host families andwill be learning the language, culture, and customs of people in France, as wellas in other <strong>French</strong>-speaking countries. Some of the subject areas studied includegreetings, alphabet, numbers, geography, schooling, family and friends, leisuretime, sports, celebrations, traditions, food, daily life, the media, and summervacations.Course Requirements1. Keep up with daily lesson plan. If student falls a day behind, he/sheshould work extra hard to catch up the next day.2. Direct interaction with teacher. Some projects require student to callin and speak in <strong>French</strong> with teacher. Students are encouraged to callin anytime to talk with their teacher.3. Students must listen and repeat each word or phrase in theglossary/reference section at least three times for each lesson.4. Student must keep a notebook for taking notes on important anddifficult concepts, charts, vocabulary, conjugations, etc. Studentmust create additional tools as aids for learning such vocabulary andgrammar flashcards and conjugation charts for regular and irregularverbs.5. Student may NOT use online translator sites when completing shortanswer questions or projects.6. Students must cite the sources they’ve used in research projects.7. Student should open and review projects before beginning work ineach unit keeping instructions in mind while working through unitassignments.
