Lnflly, that it cannot be thought, that <strong>the</strong>fupreme God will envy th<strong>of</strong>e inferior gods that worfljip or honour, which <strong>is</strong>befiowed upon <strong>the</strong>m \ nor fufpeCfed, that any <strong>of</strong> th<strong>of</strong>e inferior deities willfa£tiouJly go about to fet up <strong>the</strong>mfelves againfl <strong>the</strong> fupreme God. 54, Thatmany <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Pagans worfJoipped none but good dicmons, <strong>and</strong> that th<strong>of</strong>e <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong>m,who ivorfljipped evil ones, did it only in order to <strong>the</strong>ir appcafement <strong>and</strong> mitigation.,that fo <strong>the</strong>y might do <strong>the</strong>m no hurt. None but magicians to be accountedproperly devil-worfhippers, who honour evil demons, in order to <strong>the</strong>gratification <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong>ir revenge, lufl <strong>and</strong> ambition. §g.
