They hadhardly begun to arm. They were only then getting into their stride. They knew that their own airpower and air defence was growing from day to day. They saw American war material arriving inmasses and they could hope that one day America would stand as an ally by their side.What can Germans hope for if they stand up bravely to further bombing? There are no more newallies for them. Germany’s own fighting power is on the wane. That of the English andAmericans is growing from day to day. Germany’s factories are being bombed.
