Implant Surgery and Providing an Immediate SmileUse the SurgiGuide to perform the implant surgery on the patient. SurgiGuide equipped withthe SAFE System will offer the highest level of accuracy. The SAFE System will ensure lesssurgical deviation to overcome than implants that are placed manually, without implantguidance.Figure 4: Perform the surgery using SurgiGuide, preferably using SAFE System (1)If a bridge with oversized holes is chosen as solution, screw the abutments on the implants, and test the fit of the prepared bridge over the abutments. If the implants are not completelyparallel, it is an option to place the bridge with oversized holes before screwing the abutmentson the implants.Take into account the occlusion and aesthetics of your patient’s mouth to find the correctposition of the prepared bridge. If the surgical deviations are bigger than expected, it is stillpossible to oversize some of the holes even more to find the correct position. Once a goodposition is found, use auto-polymerising resin to fix the prepared bridge to the abutment.A few considerations need to be taken into account here. First of all, the best type ofabutment is a cylindrical tube that can be screwed on the implant. To prevent the acrylic resinfrom filling the inside of the cylinder, use wax or any other removable material on the cylinder. As such, the temporary bridge may be unscrewed at any time. Heat will be created whileperforming the auto-polymerization, so a buffer in between the patient’s soft tissue and theholes in the bridge is recommended. This polymerization will occur only in the more occlusalpart of the bridge. After the polymerization is complete, the bridge can be unscrewed, andoutside of the patient’s mouth, the ridge oriented part of the bridge can be furtherpolymerized.SURGICAL PROCEDURESFigure 5: Fit the temporary bridge in the patient mouth andalign the bridge to the implant abutments (1)86www.SimPlant.comSurgiGuide Cookbook
