The use of the SAFE System does not affect or exclude the recommendationsprovided by your guide manufacturer. If the guide will be fixed to the jaw during surgery usingosseosynthesis screws, all necessary adaptations to aid this fixing should be done beforesurgery, outside the surgery theatre. Also disinfection and sterilisation of these acrylic devicesshould be done according to the manufacturer’s recommendations.6. Preparation of surgery according to planning.As all components to be used during surgery are known beforehand, because all parametersare incorporated in the design of the guide, surgery should be prepared to prevent anymistakes in equipment during surgery. It might be helpful to position the needed componentsin a structured way onto the dynamic surgical tray. The dynamic surgical tray is designed torepresent the sixteen tooth positions of a regular patient jaw. The different componentsneeded for each implant site can be positioned easily at the correct tooth position. It isimportant to position the correct drills and implant holders for each implant site. If the samecomponents are needed for multiple tooth positions, the components can be positioned atany of these positions. Also general components, like screwdriver, handpiece connector forthe implant holders and/or trephine can easily be positioned in this dynamic surgical tray.By transferring the planning completely to the surgical tray, the actual transfer to the surgery ismuch easier.SURGICAL PROCEDURESFig. 2: Surgical tray prepared for placement of six implants7.
