Surgical Procedure1. Decision on the procedureThe decision to punch through the mucosa depends on the available amount of keratinizedtissue. To punch, position the SurgiGuide on the patient's jaw and mark (needle or methyleneblue) the entry point of each implant on the gingiva through the SurgiGuide.Remove the SurgiGuide and use a punch to cut out a cylinder of mucosa for each plannedimplant. If punching can be done through the SurgiGuide, it is not necessary to remove theguide.2. Positioning of the SurgiGuideCorrect positioning of the SurgiGuide on the patient’s jaw is essential, in order to accuratelytransfer the pre-operative treatment plan. This requires the SurgiGuide to fit on the jaw in aunique and stable position. Use the bite registration that was made pre-operatively to retrievethe unique positioning found when fitting the guide on the model. Fixate the SurgiGuide. Tofacilitate the fixing, it is advised to use only one SurgiGuide.If for any reason, it is not possible to obtain a unique and stable fit, the accuracy of the guidecannot be guaranteed. As a result, the recommendation would be to not use the SurgiGuideand to revert to the standard surgical procedure. Do not exert excessive pressure on theguide. Minimizing the amount of pressure will prevent the guide from breaking.3. First drillBased on the drilling sequence, a series of customized SurgiGuide are produced toaccommodate the specified diameters of each drill.For the first drill, begin with the SurgiGuide that contains the smallest stainless steel cylindersor fit the SurgiGuide with the correct drilling cylinders. Hold the guide down in the middle oron each of the two ends to prevent it from tilting or shifting.
