<strong>June</strong> <strong>22</strong>-<strong>23</strong>, <strong>2004</strong> 291871.2 General Counsel shall be at least a second year law student with considerationgiven by the selection committee in its deliberations to pr<strong>of</strong>essional qualifications, including butnot limited to: past legal counsel experience, quality <strong>of</strong> writing sample, law facultyrecommendations, understanding <strong>of</strong> administrative hearings, and familiarity with the Student andAcademic Misconduct Codes <strong>of</strong> The University <strong>of</strong> Oklahoma.1.3 General Counsel shall be appointed by the UOSA President, with the advice andconsent <strong>of</strong> the UOSA Legislative Branch. General counsel shall be recommended to the UOSAPresident by a selection committee composed <strong>of</strong>: the Chair <strong>of</strong> the UOSA Student Congress; theChair <strong>of</strong> the UOSA Graduate Student Senate, or their respective appointees should they beunavailable to serve; one student appointed by the UOSA President; and a representative namedby the Vice President for Student Affairs. The UOSA President will serve as a member <strong>of</strong> theselection committee, but will only cast a vote in the event <strong>of</strong> a tie. The outgoing UOSA GeneralCounsel will serve as an ex-<strong>of</strong>ficio, non-voting member <strong>of</strong> the selection committee.RATIONALE:A previous change to the committee composition removed the General Counselcompletely from the selection process to prevent the potential conflict <strong>of</strong> interest that may occurwhen an Associate General Counsel, hired by the outgoing General Counsel, applies for theGeneral Counsel position. This recommended revision provides the outgoing General Counselwith the opportunity for input in the interview and selection process without the authority <strong>of</strong> avote.President Boren recommended approval <strong>of</strong> the revision <strong>of</strong> The University <strong>of</strong>Oklahoma Student Code <strong>of</strong> Responsibilities and Conduct for the Norman Campus to amend titles10.1 and 12.Regent Stuart moved approval <strong>of</strong> the recommendation. The following voted yes onthe motion: Regents Everest, Clark, Stuart, Weitzenh<strong>of</strong>fer and Wade. The Chair declared themotion unanimously approved.CORRECTION TO MARCH <strong>2004</strong> AGENDA ITEM REGARDING STUDENTVACCINATIONSThis item was a correction <strong>of</strong> a scrivener’s error in the March <strong>2004</strong> agenda item.President Boren recommended the Board <strong>of</strong> Regents modify the agenda item onstudent vaccinations passed at the March <strong>2004</strong> meeting <strong>of</strong> the Board <strong>of</strong> Regents (attached heretoas Exhibit G) to correctly reflect the referenced sections <strong>of</strong> law as Sections 3243 and 3244 <strong>of</strong>Title 70 and to clarify that the exceptions are only available and approved under Section 3244.Regent Everest moved approval <strong>of</strong> the recommendation. The following voted yes onthe motion: Regents Everest, Clark, Stuart, Weitzenh<strong>of</strong>fer and Wade. The Chair declared themotion unanimously approved.AMENDMENT TO UNIVERSITY OF OKLAHOMA 457(b) ELIGIBLE DEFERREDCOMPENSATION PLAN
