The Chair declared themotion unanimously approved.STUDENT CODE REVISIONThis amendment to Title 10.1 informs organizations <strong>of</strong> the existence <strong>of</strong> theConstitutional Guidelines for Student Organizations.This amendment to Title 12 adds the outgoing UOSA General Counsel as a nonvoting,ex-<strong>of</strong>ficio member <strong>of</strong> the UOSA General Counsel selection committee.SUGGESTED REVISIONSTITLE 10.1 Student ActivitiesPROPOSED READING1. Membership in, association with, and benefits emanating from studentorganizations and their related activities shall be based upon such considerations as performance,educational achievement, and other criteria related to the goals <strong>of</strong> the organization and purposes<strong>of</strong> the activities. Judgments in this regard based solely on an individual’s race, color, religion,national origin, age, gender, sexual orientation, disability, veteran status, marital status, orpolitical belief are not judgments based on such considerations. Further, the purpose <strong>of</strong> theorganization must be consistent with public policy as established by prevailing UniversityCommunity standards. Exceptions to this policy shall be recognized where enforcement wouldviolate the United States Constitution or federal law. See Article I, Section 3 <strong>of</strong> the ConstitutionGuidelines for Student Organizations.RATIONALE:This sentence will inform organizations <strong>of</strong> the existence <strong>of</strong> the ConstitutionGuidelines for Student Organizations form created by the <strong>of</strong>fice <strong>of</strong> General Counsel whichfurther clarifies the role <strong>of</strong> the organization and the General Counsel’s <strong>of</strong>fice in determiningmembership.TITLE 12 General CounselPROPOSED READING
