REGENTS’ POLICY MANUALSECTION 7 – UNIVERSITY DEVELOPMENTSECTION 7—UNIVERSITY DEVELOPMENTThe Board <strong>of</strong> Regents is constitutionally vested with the governance <strong>of</strong> the University. Within itsauthority is the governance <strong>of</strong> fundraising and development, including without limitation, gifts, namingopportunities, endowments, and fundraising. Specific provisions pertaining to fundraising and relatedmatters may be set forth in the Faculty and Staff Handbooks, student handbooks such as the Student Code<strong>of</strong> Responsibilities and Conduct for the Norman Campus, and/or other <strong>of</strong>ficial policy documents <strong>of</strong> therespective campuses. Any modification to a Board <strong>of</strong> Regents policy in the policy documents referred toabove or elsewhere must be made through action <strong>of</strong> the Board <strong>of</strong> Regents.7.1—GIFTS RECOGNITION PROGRAMAnnual gifts by alumni and friends <strong>of</strong> the University provide important enrichment funds to allprograms <strong>of</strong> the University and assist in strengthening ties and communication between donors and theUniversity. To acknowledge and show appreciation for this important source <strong>of</strong> continuing support, theUniversity will recognize donors through events, activities, and publications. All requests for anonymitywill be honored.Donors will be recognized through a number <strong>of</strong> special programs, including:• The President’s Partners designation for donors who give $100 or more inunrestricted funding;• The President’s Associates designation for donors to this special program detailedwithin this section <strong>of</strong> the manual;• The George Lynn Cross Society for donors who have created charitable trusts andother life income gifts that benefit the University or who have designated theUniversity as a beneficiary <strong>of</strong> their will or life insurance policy; or• The Seed Sower Society for donors whose lifetime gifts total $1 million or more.7.1.1—GIFT RESTRICTIONSGifts may be unrestricted or restricted to the college, department or program <strong>of</strong> the donor’s choice.7.1.2—ANNUAL FUND YEARCredit toward gift recognition levels is awarded for gifts made during the annual fund year.
